IRS Loves Fraud by Illegal Immigrants

    Before It's News

I know not everyone pays attention to the tax code. In fact, I guarantee the only people who pay attention to the tax code are accountants and tax attorneys. This is a given fact. But finding out that the IRS is allowing illegal immigrants, or sorry let me say undocumented workers as that is the politically correct term, to fleece the tax system for a documented $4.2 BILLION dollars a year is enough to make anyone sit up and take a deeper look at the code. What!? Yeah, that’s right, $4.2 Bil each year for the last several years. How you say?

Well, when filing your taxes there is this little thing called the Child Tax Credit. This credit allows up to a thousand dollars for each qualifying child in your household. But here is the thing. When you file taxes as a citizen of this country you are required to provide not only your social security number, but the SSNs of your whole family. However, when you file taxes as an illegal immigrant, and yes they are required to file taxes, they use something called an ITIN assigned to them by the IRS to file their taxes. This is an individual tax payer identification number, which takes the place of an SSN on the tax forms. However, because they have no legal standing in this country, their children have no SSN, so illegals have discovered they can claim as many children as they want using the child tax credit to get tax returns in the tens of thousands of dollars. Only the worker gets an ITIN. The more interesting fact is that they are listing nieces and nephews that live in MEXICO to get this money from the government.

The U.S. Treasury Dept. Inspector Generals office has been aware of this loophole for over a decade and have made recommendations to the IRS to close this loophole. But the IRS just shrugs and claims they cannot stop the fraud without congressional intervention. Are you kidding me? Fraud is still a crime is it not? I guess it is a victimless crime when committed by an undocumented worker. However, if you are late with 72 cents in payment imagine the fines and penalties that would go on top of that as your punishment, hundreds of dollars at the least. If you committed fraud you’d be looking at jail! Congress has finally gotten wind about this, actually they got wind about it a few years ago, and the majority party has been trying to pass legislation to require a child listed on a child tax credit form to have a SSN. Not even hardly worth yawning about it is so bi-partisan and non interfering into the tax code. The legislation H.R. 1956 has been given little chance to pass, however you can contact your representation in the government and remind them it is their duty to ensure this passes. The illegals see nothing wrong with what they are doing to defraud the government but then again they see nothing wrong with violating the sovereign laws of the U.S. when they come here.
