Conservatives senators are vowing to keep up the fight against the immigration bill and the border security compromise between the Gang of Eight and some Republicans.

In back-to-back press conferences, Sens. Jeff Sessions, James Inhofe, David Vitter, Mike Lee, and Ted Cruz came together to criticize the latest development in the immigration debate, accusing the deal from Sens. Bob Corker and John Hoeven of failing to install necessary metrics to measure border security.

“We now are told an amendment is here that would fix the border and it would just throw money at the border,” said Sessions. “This amendment doesn’t seem to me to accomplish many of the key issues I’ve talked about all along.”

“This bill is not what we want,” he added.

Cruz accused the White House and Senate Democrats of deliberately sabotaging the immigration bill before it reaches the House.

“The Obama administration is fighting a battle to lose,” said Cruz. “I think their content indicates that that’s in fact their desired outcome… to have the bill voted down in the House by insisting on provisions the House of Representatives is never going to adopt."

“Based on their conduct, I think the Obama administration is more interested in getting a political issue to campaign on in 2014 and 2016,” he added.

“This Gang of Eight bill repeats the exact same pattern of 1986, and the amendment that was proposed today does the same thing,” Cruz said. “What we know is if this bill becomes law the legalization, the amnesty will become law. What we know from experience is that this bill will not secure the border.”
