Regents Vote To Limit College Access For Illegal Immigrants

ATLANTA -- The Georgia Board of Regents voted Wednesday to limit college access for illegal immigrants.

Part of the ruling requires that starting next fall, Georgia's public colleges and universities that have had to turn away academically qualified students due to lack of space in the last two years must ban illegal immigrants from enrolling. Colleges currently affected include the University of Georgia, Georgia Tech, Georgia State University, Medical College of Georgia and Georgia College & State University.

A final report presented to the Board of Regents by a special committee found that only 501 undocumented students – all paying out-of-state tuition – are among the 310,000 students who enrolled in University System of Georgia (USG) institutions in the fall of 2010.

Eva Cardenas, a Clayton State University sophomore will not be affected by the ruling. She declined to say whether she is in the country legally. She said she is disappointed in the board's decision. “It shows us that we must continue to fight for the basic right of human education, and that’s for everyone, regardless of your document status or not,â€

These people are unbelievable, what a sense of entitlement, where does it come from? Perhaps because our Federal and State governments make it so?

When the right to higher education is mentioned in the U.S. Constitution come back and we'll debate your right to one.

What nerve she has. Georgia at least made a baby step.

Word of caution to illegals in Georgia: if Nathan Deal win as governor in November, you will be packing your bags if you are smart.

Evolution of illegals in this country:

1970s and 1980s They hid. You'd rarely see them if at all. They would only hang around their closest families and friends.

1990s Some of the original ones became more militant. These few took leadership roles and starting making demands but not out right. They could easily be pushed back in to the closet.

2006 and later They made demands. They have the gall to march down our streets. They think that they should have the same rights as legal citizens. Bold to the point where if enough of them in this category get together, I think they could be a security risk to legal American citizens that are not of Mexican heritage.

The amnesty of 86 I believe is also a crucial component to the invader time line, setting us on the path we find ourselves today. It also emboldened the illegal invaders because for the first time, they realized they in fact could receive amnesty from our government if they were militant enough about it.
