Border Patrol agents pulled two duffel bags — packed with 82 pounds of cocaine — from a Valley Transit bus at the Falfurrias checkpoint on Tuesday.

Agents couldn't link the duffle bags to any passenger on the bus, according to a news release from U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

“Strategically placed Border Patrol checkpoints serve as a defense-in-depth security measure in order to degrade and disrupt transnational criminal organizations in our area of responsibility,” said Chief Patrol Agent Kevin W. Oaks, who heads the Rio Grande Valley Sector.

“The use of canines alongside keen Border Patrol agents creates a multi-layered inspection process at the checkpoints increasing our effectiveness in combating the continued exploitation of commercial buses by criminal organizations.”

    Correction
: An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated that Border Patrol agents seized the cocaine from a Greyhound bus, according to a news release from Customs and Border Protection. Greyhound Lines Inc. said the bus in question is owned by Valley Transit Company.

Who loaded it, driver, ticket agent, or other employee? Someone must be charged with some crime. Valley Transit then is responsible for transporting contraband! If no one "owned " the bags, Valley is the only one that can be suspect.
