Federal court rejects Texas voter ID law as unfair to Hispanics, African-Americans

WASHINGTON — A federal court has ruled against a Texas law that would require voters to present photo IDs to election officials before being allowed to cast ballots in November. A three-judge panel in Washington ruled Thursday that the law imposes “strict, unforgiving burdens on the poor” and noted that racial minorities in Texas are more likely to live in poverty.
The decision involves an increasingly contentious political issue: a push, largely by Republican-controlled legislatures and governor’s offices, to impose strict identification requirements on voters.
The ruling comes in the same week that South Carolina’s strict photo ID law is on trial in front of another three-judge panel in the same federal courthouse. A court ruling in the South Carolina case is expected in time for the November election.

So I guess they don't ever go to the hospital or have bank accounts and don't you need ID to even get welfare????

I believe the way to fix our elections integrity will be to start running the voter registration files against more databases "in house". That way the state can make stricter laws for voter registrations that show problems such as not being a US citizen or no longer being alive, not existing at all, or no longer living at certain addresses. Instead of requiring ID to vote, just make the actual voter registration process and voter data file more secure!

I don't get this as being a problem at all in TX. I did not even know that there was any push back from minorities. TX for the sixteen years I've been here issued a voter ID card, and/or accepted TX DL or Photo ID. I missed something? Just another push back from Holder as I see it, when no problem existed?

Since ID is required for just about everything else, it is not unreasonable to require ID in order to vote.
Hmmm. . .if*Americans are so racist, why do so many*people want to live*here??* One would think we wouild need border walls to keep them here under racist rule rather than building walls to keep them out!
