House adds mass email blocking software

    RAW STORY
    Published: Monday June 12, 2006

The House Chief Administration Officer has announced a new program which will stymie automated, mass email programs. The new system, if added to Congressional websites, will require the site visitor to complete a 'logic puzzle' to reduce the number of messages sent via automatic programs, today's ROLL CALL REPORTS.

So far sixty members of Congress have adopted the program.

    Excerpts from the registration-restricted < http://www.rollcall.com/issues/51_135/news/13759-1.html>article follow:

In the battle against unwanted mass e-mails targeting Members’ offices, the House Chief Administrative Officer has upped the ante.

Late last month, the CAO’s office announced the availability of a “logic puzzle” feature as an optional enhancement to the “Write Your Representative” online service already offered to House offices. The new feature is designed to reduce unwanted mass e-mail by requiring a user to complete a simple puzzle before being allowed to send a message to a Member. The idea is that only an actual person would be able to complete the puzzle and that automated mass e-mail programs would be thwarted from blasting offices with repeated form messages.

In the just more than two weeks since it was made available, about 60 Members have added the logic puzzle feature to their Web sites and, anecdotally, offices have said the service helps them respond faster and more effectively to constituents by weeding out mass e-mails.

no, the opposite is true. they just don't want 20 people from an org (pick the topic and side) to send them 20 k emails. the 20 people can still say what they want to say. and remember, aztlan and open-border people will also be affected.

I find this an incredibly ignorant statement. One that shows the complete lack of knowledge pertaining to American government and in particular what the roles are of elected Senators and Representatives in the US Congress. Complete lack of knowledge as to the legislative processes and purposes.

BTW, what the hell is AZTLAN? It certainly doesn't exist within the American borders and is some mythical place in no man's land or is it Man's Limited Mind?

Inquisitor: Thats an idiotic statement. This program was installed due to people like you, who keep wasting our governments time and money.
If you want someone to hear you, send a message to your own inept governments. But I guess that would be a waste of time, cause they dont want to hear from you either.

is a good software. it makes sure that the people who run the country are hearing form actual people, not machines. perhaps even from their own states or district.

you guys keep saying that the elected officials are not hearing from the people. that they just focus on big companies and on those that have big wallets. like lou dobbs would say, "the best gov't money can buy." who do you think uses this kind of software?

but enough already, i wste too much time with those that know little about the system.

I am sure that the interns were getting driven crazy by the people of this country that don't agree with Amnesty to illegal foreign nationals. Now, if you are going to be a career politician taking a Federal Salary, you are going to have to take the heat.
If you want to be an intern and close to the power, you are going to be taking the beating. As ordinary citizens we don't have the time and money that LaRaza (15.5 million in federal funds last year) to set up offices in DC which they have and pay for luncheons and special "studies" to entertain the politicians.
Also, an Hispanic Caucus sends a message of racial preference that we have been trying to overcome for over 60 years. . I believe that LaRaza has set itself up as a lobby group and should be banned from federal funds.
Now, as far as not understanding why our elected officials have put "filters" on their contact portals, I would say two reasons, first they are paying their staffers overtime and hearing a lot of bellyaching from them and second, they don't want to be bothered by opinions from the little people.
