Teen wanted in brutal ‘Knockout Game’ assault (video)

Teen wanted in brutal ‘Knockout Game’ assault (video)

    October 5, 2017

ROSENBERG, TX. — Authorities are seeking a man wanted for a felony crime. They’re asking for the public’s help in tracking down 18-year-old Alejandro Maldonado, wanted as a suspect in a criminal investigation.

Maldonado is suspected of assaulting a 30-year-old victim, who is unnamed at this time. In shocking surveillance footage, the victim can be seen walking along a sidewalk while focused on a handheld device when another man, believed to be Maldonado, punches him from behind.

The assault takes only seconds, and leaves the unidentified victim on the ground after he hits the sidewalk, seemingly unconscious as his assailant walks away in triumph.

The assailant’s companions don’t help the victim, and one even appears to be impressed, in the video released by Rosenberg Police in a Facebook post (see below). No passersby help the victim during the clip.

The motive for the attack is still unknown, and the Rosenberg Police Department said the two men don’t appear to have known each other, making the assault a random crime.

Investigators believe the assault may be part of a viral-video trend, known online as the “Knockout Game,” which can have tragic consequences.

The victim in the Rosenberg attack spent several nights in hospital, according KTRK. He is understood to still be recovering from his injuries.

Authorities are warning teens not to participate in the “Knockout Game,” saying it’s a serious offense.

“You think it’s a game, your friends might peer-pressure you into doing something. And it’s a serious offense, it’s a felony, it’s an aggravated assault,” Rosenberg Police Lt. Chad Pino said. “In this case, he sustained some serious injuries, and it’s not a game. It’s not going to be funny when you’re in prison.”

Law enforcement says Maldonado had been identified, was cooperating with the investigation, and was supposed to turn himself in, but he failed to do so and instead stopped communicating and disappeared.

Police hope that by releasing the video, he will be shamed into giving himself up or will be located through informants. Maldonado is wanted for alleged aggravated assault.

Police ask that anyone with information as to his whereabouts contact Detective Mehling at 832-595-3814 or Crime Stoppers at 281-342-8477. A reward may be offered.

It is an illegal alien, I don't know if he's DACA.

My guess would be yes, he is.
