Three Large Groups of Migrants Encountered in the RGV

EDINBURG, Texas – McAllen Border Patrol (MCS) station agents encountered three large groups totaling 320 migrants in two days.

MCS agents working in Hidalgo County, Texas, responded to several reports of large groups of noncitizens crossing the Rio Grande. The three groups encountered on Monday morning and Tuesday evening totaled 320 migrants. The groups consisted of 229 family members, 86 unaccompanied children, and five single adults.

The nationalities of those in the groups included; Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Romania, Ecuador, Venezuela, and United Kingdom.

This year, Rio Grande Valley (RGV) agents have encountered 44 groups of 100 or more people illegally entering the United States.

Border Patrol is processing the subjects accordingly.

Even with the spread of the COVID-19 virus, human smugglers continue to try these brazen attempts with zero regard for the lives they endanger nor to the health of the citizens of our great nation. The U.S. Border Patrol agents of the Rio Grande Valley Sector will continue to safeguard the nation and community against these criminal elements.
