Three Tennessee Counties Are Voting On Tuesday To Say “Refugees Aren’t Welcome Here”
Votes and hearings are taking place tomorrow, Tuesday, January 21, 2020, on resolutions regarding refugee resettlement. The radical group, TIRRC (Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition), is actively campaigning and will show up in counties to protest for refugee resettlement to continue in Tennessee despite fierce opposition from citizens.
The following notice from the TIRRC to all of its supporters needs to be countered by calls, emails, appearances from citizens in support of stopping refugee resettlement to Tennessee. Use the links provided by the George Soros funded group to contact the County Commissioners.
Use your “one minute” to push back against efforts to transform our states and communities with foreign citizens from third world nations who largely hate us and who once here will turn around to join forces with those like the TIRRC against our immigration laws.
Too many American citizens need our help in our own country with citizen tax dollars. Help people near their home.

THREE TENNESSEE COUNTIES ARE VOTING ON TUESDAY TO SAY “REFUGEES AREN’T WELCOME HERE”
Take 1 minute to send a message to county commissioners and urge them to reject this hateful resolution
Last year, President Trump signed an executive order giving states and localities where refugees are resettled the option to veto resettlement in their area. 42 governors and hundreds of counties have already consented to continue to welcome refugees and yesterday a federal judge put an injunction on the executive order, ensuring resettlement can continue across the country while the court considers the case against the order.
In Tennessee, we celebrated the incredible news that Governor Bill Lee was the first governor in the South to consent. In response to his decision, a fringe, right-wing group is organizing Tennessee counties to pass symbolic resolutions to disapprove of Governor Lee’s decision and to deny their consent to resettle refugees in their county. So far, three counties (Loudon, Stewart, and Tipton) have passed these hateful resolutions and right-wing media outlets are reporting that several more are considering similar resolutions in the coming weeks.
This Tuesday, January 21st, Bedford County, Greene County and Madison County are voting on resolutions to say refugees are not welcome in their counties. We need you to take action.
Send a message to county commissioners and urge them to reject this hateful resolution.
These resolutions aren’t about public policy - none of the counties can stop refugee resettlement. Instead of focusing on issues that are actually impacting their communities, like job opportunities or hospital closures, these resolutions try to divide Tennesseans and blame refugees for the problems facing our communities. These resolutions send a dangerous message about what kind of state we are and create a climate of fear and hostility for immigrant and refugee families.
Let’s show up and send a clear message that refugees are welcome in Tennessee. Send a message to the commissioners and if you live in the area, attend the commission meeting to show your support for refugees.
This Tuesday, Bedford (Shelbyville), Madison (Jackson) and Greene (Greeneville) County Commissioners are voting on a resolution to reject refugees. Will you take 1 minute and urge them to stop fear-mongering?
If you live in one of these counties, you can also show up to demonstrate support for refugees. Hearings on the resolutions are scheduled for:
Bedford County (Shelbyville): Tuesday, January 21st at 5 PM , Bedford County Courthouse (3rd Floor)
Madison County (Jackson): Tuesday, January 21st at 8:30 AM - 10:00 AM, West TN Research and Education Center
Greene County (Greeneville): Tuesday, January 21st at 6:00 in Criminal Courtroom( Top Floor) of Courthouse.
