"Metro Police Capture Illegal Immigrants In Federal-Flagged Van"
A traffic stop on Briley Parkway near I-24 in south Nashville uncovered nine illegal immigrants overnight on Thursday.

Police said they spotted a van driving along I-24 eastbound and noticed that something was wrong with the headlights.

When they pulled the van over, they found nine Hispanic travelers inside, none of whom spoke any English. None were in the U.S. legally.

Upon further investigation, it was determined that the van in which they rode had a federal flag, suspected as operating in an illegal trafficking ring.

The people found in the van were taken into custody, and will be turned over to federal immigration authorities.

They are currently being held in the Metro jail under a federal detainer warrant.
