Top Visa Lottery Countries for 2010

Top Visa Lottery Countries for 2010

By Jessica Vaughan, July 16, 2009

Last week the State Department announced the lucky winners in this year’s Visa Lottery, who will be arriving in communities near you by September, 2010. Fourteen percent of the winners (13,988 people) hail from countries of special interest in the war on terror. Here are the top twelve winning countries:

    1. Nigeria 6,006
    2. Bangladesh 6,001
    3. Ukraine 5,499
    4. Ethiopia 5,200
    5. Kenya 4,619
    6. Egypt 4,201
    7. Uzbekistan 4,059
    8. Sierra Leone 3,898
    9. Cameroon 3,719
    10. Morocco 3,124
    11. Turkey 2,826
    12. Iran 2,773

Approximately one-half of these winners will pursue their application to completion and eventually receive green cards. View the complete list.

The visa lottery serves no purpose other than to increase immigration for immigration’s sake. It offers green cards to people who offer no particular skills and who lack close family ties here. Fraud is rampant. It creates demand in countries where there was no demand before. It has been exploited by organized crime groups – several years ago, a crime syndicate in Eastern Europe hacked into a university ID card system and manufactured electronic entry forms, complete with photos, unbeknown to the individual students. Then it hijacked the winner notification letters at the post office, contacted the winners, and provided them with spouses to accompany them to the United States, where the lucky winners were coerced into working for the syndicate here. It’s not hard to see why this program has had a target on its back for some time, and few will mourn its passing if Congress ever gets around to ending it.

Why would Congress end it? They seem to be hell-bent on driving this country into the ground. Just another wedge. Whoops! Being a pessimist again.

When was the last time you saw Congress do something really good for America and the American citizen? Really, I want to know. There is ALWAYS a sell out in their bills to some foreign country or it's residents. ALWAYS. ALWAYS someone we are giving money to that will wipe us out. Look at the money Obama just pledged to the International Monetary Fund. Just another way to give money to rich people in another country that will turn around and support him for re-election. IMF money hardly ever helps the locals.

So we got em pouring in over our southern border illegally, and yet our government reaches out to every third-world country they can find and holds a visa lottery! What's the chances any of these people from the countries listed will ever leave once on US soil! How about never!

I guess our government cannot turn us into a third world toilet bowel fast enough! Of course, this is all done im sure under the charade of "multi-culturism and diversity."

At this point in time, we don't really need to provide visas to a soul, especially those seeking permanent residency.
Nigeria! They are usually the ones emailing cute messages about helping some poor king whose money is tied up, and he will award your generosity with millions if you send a few thousand bucks. They are continually in the news for fraud, so now we can watch them work their skills locally.
Too many on the list of nations receiving visas like to blow up things and people, so now we get to worry about that here.
I do so wish we stop giving this country away.

Does anyone know what the he!! the supposed purpose of this VISA lottery is? Not the gov's real reason, but what they tell us is the "very good" reason? I know this Visa lottery isn't new, but this is absolute insanity. Our country is falling apart, and we're going to bring a hundred thousand MORE people in from third world countries?

This whole issue is so absurd, I can hardly respond any more. I think its the phenomenon of "learned helplessness". How can we even keep up with all their insanity? Sometimes I feel helpless and hopeless.

Another question: Does anyone know why there are no Western European countries on this list? Are we discriminating against Western European countries? Or is the whole point just to bring in more people from third-world countries that we have to SAVE, while our own country falls down around us?

The other half will simply remain illegally!

Why are we receiving people from countries who cant contribute at all to our society? Especially at a time when our economy is in the tank and umemployment is sky high. It doesnt make any sense. And why are European countries left off the list?
