    Total of 562 Mexican immigrants have died crossing U.S. border

    MEXICO, December 25.— The number of Mexican immigrants who have died crossing the country’s border with the United States has reached 562 so far this year, reported the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI).

    The Mexican Congressional work group on migratory affairs also stated that 560,000 Mexican nationals emigrated to the U.S. during 2007 looking for work.

    The majority risked their lives, and as has been verified, hundreds met their death, said Edmundo RamÃ*rez of the PRI.

    He also recalled that another 54 Mexicans have been sentenced to death and are awaiting execution in the United States, while 118 have been convicted and are face the possibility of capital punishment. (PL)

    26 Americans a day (9490 a year) die at the hands of illegal immigrants.

    That's only the ones caught and tried. Note the reason they are facing the death penalty is not stated.
