On Tuesday, prosecutor Tommy Block said in his opening statement of accused murderer Edmundo Cerda-Anima …”He stalked her like an animal stalking prey.”
Block then described how the Mexican national intentionally drove his Ford Expedition into Allesandra Adams, paralyzing her, then shoved her into his SUV and drove her to a nearby canal bank where he allegedly raped her.
On May 22, 2006, the victim, a 51-year old grandmother and real estate agent was walking alone in Lafreniere Park at the time of the attack. Her naked body was found the next day on a gravel road a short distance from the park, according to Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office (JPSO) investigators.
More than four years later, in October 2010, Mexican authorities turned over Edmundo Cerda-Anima to the FBI. The fugitive was captured in the violent city of Juarez.
Cerda-Anima was then brought to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office and charged with second-degree murder and aggravated rape.
