Trump blames Democrats for deaths of migrant children at border

President Trump blamed congressional Democrats Saturday for the deaths of migrant children at the border, saying liberals’ “pathetic” immigration policies have encouraged foreign families to attempt the dangerous journey.

“Any deaths of children or others at the Border are strictly the fault of the Democrats and their pathetic immigration policies that allow people to make the long trek thinking they can enter our country illegally,” Mr. Trump tweeted. “They can’t. If we had a Wall, they wouldn’t even try!”

House Democrats ordered Homeland Security officials this week to preserve all “evidence” related to the two deaths this month of Guatemalan children who jumped the U.S.-Mexico border with their parents, signaling an investigation next month.

An 8-year-old boy, Felipe Gomez Alonzo, died on Christmas Eve after six days in Border Patrol custody. He had been treated for a cold and fever at a hospital and was released, but was readmitted hours later — and died soon thereafter.

His mother in Guatemala said the boy’s father brought the child on the trip to the U.S. in the belief that gaining illegal entry would be easier with a child.

Earlier this month, a 7-year-old Guatemalan girl died after being arrested for crossing the border illegally with her father. Border Patrol agents twice managed to revive her after she fell ill, but she later suffered a heart attack and liver and respiratory failure at a hospital.

Mr. Trump said the two children “were very sick before they were given over to Border Patrol.”

“The father of the young girl said it was not their fault, he hadn’t given her water in days,” the president tweeted. “Border Patrol needs the Wall and it will all end. They are working so hard & getting so little credit!”

Trump needs to also start blaming and calling out the President's of Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras.

Trump needs to demand that the U.N. and NATO troops go in and help them solve their problems. WE pay their paychecks to defend our country too.

Let NATO troops round up their gangs and put them in prisons on a remote island. That is the only way they will ever put a dent in the drugs, violence, sex trafficking, human trafficking and gangs in all our countries.

Set up one big International domestic and foreign gang and terrorist prison off shore that we can send them to. Set up this new agency and all countries should fund this. Get them off our soil!

In my opinion, there is lots of blame to go around. Decades worth.

Secure the borders. Stop telling the world they can come and seek asylum if they go through specific point of entry because we see it doesn't matter where they enter. Many of the world will come.

"Catch and release" is alive and well. The news of 500-1,000 being released within the past several days is proof. Now we have to give more tax dollars for better medical screening due to the tragic deaths of sick children. American citizens are too often told that there is no money for things to better their lives but they can certainly pay for foreign citizens illegally here. They can pay for their lives here and their lives and children in other countries through remittances.

Empty detention centers to zero before any consideration of accepting anyone. No foreign aid to countries allowing their people, their poor, their criminals to come. Mexico is not listening with both ears. They are the pass through and we know that their corrupt government profits from a porous border in many ways. Clean out both sides of the drug cartel activity.

The Defense Department of the Untied States should prioritize the defense of the United States through physical barriers that stop or deter crossings, surveillance, etc, to stop illegal immigration, criminals, terrorists, drugs, etc. President Trump should not appoint any defense secretary that doesn't get it and clean out the other amnesty heads of departments. Billions of dollars have been wasted on failed attempts at nation building and years of fruitless wars. We could have built many walls, fences, other. We secure the borders of other nations and in return for military favors we have gotten tens of thousands of refugees and third world people, most who hate us.

Yep, as GeorgiaPeach said, there is plenty of blame to go around!
