The nation is in a state of chaos, as citizens lose trust in their president. Yet read a major newspaper or listen to a news broadcast, National Public Radio being a prime example, and you might think that everything is just dandy.

According to the liberal press, the biggest news is Gov. Chris Christie and alleged political shenanigans involving the blocking of several lanes on the George Washington Bridge. MSNBC has been dissecting the Christie conduct daily.

Meanwhile, the mainstream news media fiddles as the country burns. Sparse coverage is given to the killing of the U.S. ambassador and three other Americans in Benghazi, Libya. And to former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s congressional testimony about Benghazi, when she dramatically extended both arms, asking, “What difference, at this point, does it make?”

Equally scant coverage was given to the killings of two Department of Homeland Security agents, one in Arizona and one in Mexico, with weapons provided by an Obama administration gun-running operation gone bad.

The senior Internal Revenue Service official who invoked the Fifth Amendment to avoid incriminating herself in testimony before a congressional committee investigating the targeting of conservative groups by the IRS received little coverage. Currently the FBI and several congressional committees are investigating IRS corruption. Members of the Obama administration continue to stonewall the congressional hearings.

FBI agents have yet to interview alleged victims of harassment by these agencies. It appears that the once whistle-clean FBI has become the politically correct lapdog of the White House.

The Obama Department of Justice is now so politically controlled that it has lost credibility in national polls. Former DOJ attorneys and FBI agents lament the moral decay of DOJ, and they are not alone. DHS immigration and Border Patrol agents decry the politicizing of their duties. The situation is so dire that Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents have filed suit challenging the Obama administration’s open-border policies and directives, including “Prosecutorial Discretion” and “Deferred Deportation.”

Since 2008, the president has promised Hispanics a comprehensive immigration bill. The Senate passed a flawed immigration bill, which has little chance of passing the Republican-controlled House of Representatives. In reaction, the president uses “his pen and his phone” to circumvent existing, still-on-the-books, federal immigration laws.

Earlier this month, the Obama administration quietly announced restructuring of the rules for refugees and asylum seekers, relaxing the definition of “helping” terrorists. Now the president’s restructuring may provide criminals and terrorists easy access to the United States and guaranteed approval for “green cards.” This is yet another dangerous Obama sleight of hand, but as the president bragged on February 10, “I can do whatever I want.”

The website Politico, on February 10, reported that impatient immigration groups are turning to anger. Some immigrant rights advocacy groups, unable to influence their liberal Obama minions to act fast on an open-door immigration policy, are turning to harassment of Republican lawmakers. These advocates for unfettered immigration seek to confront and harass Republican lawmakers at every location, office, home, or speaking engagement — “relentless and constant” said one advocate.

Among these advocates are undocumented aliens, who are encouraged to flaunt their illegal status while harassing Republican officials. Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, is reportedly among the strategists for such harassment. The Politico piece quotes a spokesman for the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops as saying, “We’re not going away.” The spokesman said that bishops will be focusing their harassment efforts “like a laser” on Republican politicians who are Catholic.

It is ironic, if true, that Catholic bishops are working with Nancy Pelosi, as she along with Senator Dick Durbin, D-Ill., and Senator Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., allegedly Catholics, consistently vote against family-values legislation. These three and other Catholic Democrat congressional members actively oppose bills that reflect traditional moral values. Where was the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops during the past decades, as these Democrats sought to devalue religious beliefs by way of legislative initiatives?

On February 10, the mayor of New York City announced that undocumented immigrants will be given identity cards. Such a move legitimizes the showering of illegal aliens with taxpayer-subsidized welfare benefits. Will this usurpation of the federal prerogative result in the Obama administration filing suit against Mayor de Blasio or New York City?

Because of the president’s Obamacare misrepresentations and his latest immigration bureaucratic chicanery, the American people continue to lose trust in him. Obama always will have the support of the hardcore radical left, but apparently other Americans strongly doubt his trustworthiness.

On a February 9 Sunday talk show, Senator Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., suggested that Congress should enact the Senate immigration bill but have it take effect only after Obama leaves office.

Schumer, an Obama champion, all but acknowledged the president’s fading trust factor.
