Twice-deported illegal alien confesses to murdering 14-year-old girl

Salvadoran national Melvin Alvarado, 22, has confessed to killing a Houston teenager, after a botched robbery attempt. His accomplice, Jonathan Ariel Lopez-Torres, 18, has also admitted to acting as the getaway driver in the crime, but it was Alvarado who actually shot 14-year-old Shatavia Anderson.

On August 7, around 12:30 a.m., Anderson was walking home when she was approached by Alvarado and Torres. The two tried to rob her, but she fought back. As she ran away, Alvarado shot her in the back.

Houston Police Sgt. Billy Bush told reporters: “Something happened between them. She pushed off, and at that point she ran and he says he shot her in the back.â€
