Bill would make ‘sanctuary cities’ pay for Trump’s border wall

New legislation targeting “sanctuary cities” that harbor criminal illegal immigrants from arrest and deportation would have some of their federal money diverted to building President Trump’s border wall.

The “Make Sanctuary Cities Pay for the Wall Act,” introduced by North Carolina Rep. Robert Pittenger, would tag Justice money sent to some 300 jurisdictions including New York, Chicago, Washington, D.C., and San Francisco for use on the wall project.

“By simultaneously defunding sanctuary cities and funding construction of a border wall, this legislation offers a comprehensive solution to one of our nation’s most pressing and persistent problems,” he said in a statement.

Justice has targeted many sanctuary cities with a warning that it will not continue to fund certain programs until local officials begin cooperating with Immigration and Customs Enforcement and grant them access to illegals in jails.

Pittenger said that sanctuaries are a lure for illegal immigrants and a pathway for terrorism.

“Sanctuary cities blatantly subvert the rule of law, incentivize further illegal immigration and endanger law-abiding citizens. All the while, criminals and drugs flow across our porous southern border, bringing violence and crime into our towns and communities. This poses a critical threat to public safety and America’s national security as we know that Hezbollah and other terrorist organizations are actively operating in Latin America. Enough is enough,” said the Republican.

Rep. Robert Pittenger is not serious about helping mitigate the death and destruction caused by illegal immigration and Sanctuary cities, he is on ALIPAC's Cantor List for his support for Amnesty for illegal aliens!

He must be worried about a tough election challenger.
