So, Mr. Trump, about this wall... (ALIPAC)

So, Mr. Trump, about this wall...

    Thursday, April 7, 2016
    | Chad Groening (OneNewsNow.com)

An immigration enforcement activist is concerned about how Donald Trump would carry out his plan to force Mexico to pay for a border wall by threatening to cut off billions of dollars the Mexicans living in the U.S. send home every year.
The Mexican central bank reports that money sent home by Mexicans in America hit nearly $25 billion last year, overtaking oil revenues for the first time as a source of foreign income.
In his proposal, Trump threatens to change a rule under the USA Patriot Act, an anti-terrorism law, to cut off remittances sent to Mexico. But he says he would withdraw the threat if Mexico makes a one-time payment of $5-10 billion to finance the 1,000-mile wall.
"To seize those remittances, the government would have to force banking institutions, many of which are not even American banking firms that are available in the United States, and not to mention all of your internet possibilities -- those remittances that are sent back to Mexico could easily find another channel to get home," explains William Gheen, president of Americans for Legal Immigration PAC (ALIPAC).
So he says a better option would be to stop paying out more than $4 billion a year in tax returns or earned income tax credits to illegal aliens.
"Donald Trump, or any other president, could raise the $10 billion to pay for the wall to Mexico simply by stopping our government from giving away $10 billion every two years or so to the illegal immigrants in the United States of America," Gheen adds.
Trump has estimated his proposed wall --- a top promise of his presidential campaign --- would cost between $10 and $12 billion, and has argued that it would protect the country from illegal border crossings and halt drug shipments.

If all illegal aliens are deported as promised
there would be no one here to send remittances back to Mexico and there would be no money for the wall.

I don't care who pays for the wall. The only way one is going up is if Trump wins the election, period. He has to win the presidency first.

This country wastes 10's of billions of dollars everyday on garbage policies, foreign aid, welfare to those that can work, medicaid and welfare fraud, tax evasion by illegals, etc, etc, etc....Trump needs to talk about the money we will save when it is up and enforced and even if we pay for it, it is an investment in our future and national security. The money alone saved from the detrimental effects of the drug trade will be in the 100's of billions over the first four years.

Spend a little time in any town USA where a population of illegal Mexicans live and work and it will be easy to figure out how to deal with this problem.

I think Mexico should pay for the wall but if it takes a while to collect the bill, I'm okay with that, too. I wish we didn't need the wall, I wish the Mexican people respected our country, citizens and laws. I wish the Mexican government would discourage illegal migration to the US instead of supporting and aiding it. There's no question Mexico is responsible for this and Trump is right, they should pay for the wall because they're the ones who created the problem that requires the wall to help solve it.

It is not necessarily so that good walls make good neighbors, but good neighbors are not offended by walls, especially walls on borders. There is no need for the integrity of borders to be a source of hostility, they can be sources of friendship too, a place the flesh of two countries meet and reassure each other of their good intentions, like a handshake.

Does Mexico as a friendly nation really expect us to just trust Mexicans to respect our borders without walls or policing? They have problems with borders in their South and they are just as resentful of countries in the South violating them.

It's a shame the Mexican people have pushed the illegal immigration so far that a wall is needed to protect our country, citizens and treasury. A damn shame. But pushed it they did, so now they have caused the need for a wall, not the United States. There were other solutions but none taken because the Mexicans allowed their drug cartels to buy up our politicians to ensure those solutions were never implemented and enforced.

Once we have illegal immigration under control with the wall and deportations, Americans will be friendly again towards the Mexicans and people in all countries who have been disrespecting US to rob US through illegal immigration and even excess legal immigration. As Trump calls it "ripping US off". When that stops, we'll return to good relations with our neighbors in their own countries where they belong.

It would take 2 yrs to deport and that is 2yrs worth of remittances - just the whole idea will send them back to their countries. The child tax credit removed for illegals would help too until such time that they are gone.

With remittance and trade fees negotiated, tax credits prohibited and we stop sending these countries money to support them, that would be more than enough to pay for it.

Mexico is not our friend. The government of Mexico is facilitating and encouraging the invasion of our nation by their citizens in hopes of taking back the land they lost in the Mexican-American War.

Absolutely!! See this is what Trump is talking about. He doesn't mean Mexico will write a check for it. He means they'll pay indirectly for it. It's complicated and not easy to explain as a simple soundbite on TV.
