Two Mexican nationals tied to the murder if ICE Special Agent Jaime J. Zapata and the injuring of his partner Victor Avila have been extradited from Mexico.

Authorities say the two will face charges for their alleged participation in the murder of Zapata and the attempted murder of Avila.

Jesus Ivan Quezada Pina an Alfredo Gaston Mendoza Hernandez were charged in 2013. The men appeared today in a federal courtroom in Washington D.C. They are being held without bond.

Zapata, 32, a Brownsville native who worked for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, was killed Feb. 15, 2011, near San Luis Potosi, Mexico, in an attack by members of the Zetas drug cartel. His partner Victor Avila was wounded in the attack.
