Two of these 8 prototypes could become Trump’s ‘big, beautiful’ border wall

President Trump’s “big, beautiful” border wall has taken another significant step toward becoming a reality with the debut of these eight new prototypes.

The samples — which measure between 18 and 30 feet high — will be tested to see which would fit best in Trump’s construction scheme, according to US Customs and Border Protection officials.

Four are made from concrete and the others are made with different materials. The non-concrete wall pieces will be used in areas where the barrier can be seen through, the officials said.

“We’re going to test it for breachability. For the subterranean aspect,” Roy Villareal, the Deputy Chief Patrol Agent of the San Diego Sector of CBP, told NBC News. “Can we dig under it? Can we cut through it? Can we scale over it?”

While Trump’s border plans continue to move along, it’s still unclear how the president plans to pay for everything.

The White House’s proposed budget next year seeks $1.8 billion for new sections to be placed where older ones previously existed. This money would also pay for more than 40 miles of new wall.

The only problem is, officials believe the project could cost between $8 and $12 billion — or maybe even higher.

Contractors begin work on border wall prototypes

Federal contractors are building eight prototypes of President Trump’s proposed border wall with Mexico — including this one as seen from the Mexican side of the border near Tijuana.

Authorities kept the press and onlookers nearly three miles away on the American side, but the prototype — which appears to be about 30 feet tall — can be seen up close from Mexican territory.

The development suggests Trump is inching closer to fulfilling one of his campaign promises — though there is no guarantee that it will be fully funded or survive court challenges.

A complaint filed last week by California Attorney General Xavier Becerra, a Democrat, mirrors two others by environmental groups that allege the administration overstepped its authority to speed up construction.

Hurrying a job along to get it done is not "overstepping" authority, it's doing your job, obviously a point of fact about work and jobs that Democrat politicians consider threatening in some way, unless of course it's hurrying up an illegal unconstitutional work permit for illegal aliens who are supposed to be deported not given an American Worker's job.

    Huge difference!

You can really see the height difference next to the current fencing.

    Gives me goose-bumps..... Love it!

I like the one with the round top...it needs to roll back towards the Mexican side and dump them back on their soil

I know the border patrol is asking for a see through fence (wall). However, I personally prefer an actual concrete wall the illegals can't see through. While a see through fence may be convenient, I don't see how it really makes our BP any safer. If the BP can see through the fence, so can the illegals. I'd rather them (illegals) not know what they're facing on the other side should the decide to attempt a scaling of the fence (wall). Implant sensors in the wall and we'll know they are tampering with the wall, but they won't know we're waiting on the other side. Just my opinion.

It needs to roll back in towards Mexico so there is no straight surface to lean a ladder making it more difficult to climb up and over

    Me too.

That's why all the prototypes have a ledge on U.S. side for positioning drones, cameras and high tech sensors.

The open fencing on the bottom not only makes it flimsy but also makes it easier to climb by cording cable or rope
between the slits, making a make-shift ladder to climb.

The illegals, I would assume, would be less likely to climb or breach the wall if they can't see who or what is
    on the other side.
