R.I. governor to meet with panel on immigration

PROVIDENCE –– The final meeting of the governor’s advisory panel monitoring his executive order related to undocumented immigrants will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Department of Administration at One Capitol Hill, Conference Room A.

Governor Carcieri is scheduled to address the advisory board.

The panel, appointed by Carcieri after his March 2008 executive order sparked protests, concluded in a final report that the order created “an overriding sense of fear among both legal and undocumented immigrants.â€
