Authorities suspect Mexican drug cartel involvement with series of burglaries

The Gonzales County Sheriff’s Office arrested two Houston men charged with multiple counts of burglary and theft. Silvino Tobias Castillo, 29, and Mario Moreno Alvarado, 29, of Houston, are also charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.

According to Chief Deputy Dennis Richter, several burglaries and thefts in Gonzales, Caldwell, Fayette, Lavaca and Colorado Counties have been cleared by the Gonzales County Sheriff’s Office.
