ROUND ROCK, Texas -- Federal officials arrested three people in Round Rock accused of employing undocumented immigrants, according to the Department of Justice.

Officials say 55-year-old Richard Anthony Corrales, 44-year-old Leopoldo Yepez and 42-year-old Mon Prum Cerda are charged with harboring undocumented aliens and unlawful employment of undocumented aliens. All three are employees of CORTEC Precision Sheet Metal, Inc.

A federal indictment says that beginning in September 2013, CORTEC employed undocumented immigrants and hid the information from police. Agents with the Department of Homeland Security provided at least 16 names of undocumented immigrants employed at the company. The indictment says the company continued to employ the undocumented immigrants after they told homeland security officials that they had been fired.

Corrales, Yepez and Cerda face up to 10 years in prison if convicted on the harboring charge and up to six months if convicted on the unlawful employment charge. CORTEC faces fines of up to $250,000 on the harboring charge and up to $3,000 for each undocumented worker.
