PA: Without illegals, PA economy would suffer

With a new push for amnesty and free government health care plans for illegal aliens these marginal pro-illegal groups will be making their outlandish claims about the benefit and indispensability of illegal aliens to the U.S. economy...here, apparently, PA was singled out....and a presser was sent to advocate for illegal aliens continued presence in the Commonwealth of PA.....

just tell that to the thousands of unemployed, blue-collar workers in Philly or Pittsburgh....hard to justify giving benefits and employment to illegals when locals have neither. See,

New Americans in the Keystone State: Pennsylvania's Immigrants, Latinos, and Asians Are a Political and Economic Powerhouse

WASHINGTON, July 29 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Immigration Policy Center has compiled research which shows that immigrants, Latinos, and Asians not only wield political power in Pennsylvania, but are an integral part of the state's economy and tax base. As workers, taxpayers, consumers, and entrepreneurs, immigrants and their children are an economic powerhouse. As voters, they are a growing political force. Yet anti-immigrant groups are exaggerating the alleged fiscal "costs" imposed by unauthorized immigrants, and are completely discounting the many economic benefits which immigrants, Latinos, and Asians bring to the Keystone State.

    Highlights of the research include:

    * Immigrants make up about 5.4% of Pennsylvania's total population, and half of them are naturalized citizens who are eligible to vote.
    * New Americans (naturalized U.S. citizens and their U.S.-born children) represent 5.2% of registered voters.
    * The purchasing power of Pennsylvania's Latinos and Asians totaled $22.6 billion in 2008.
    * Businesses owned by Latinos and Asians had sales and receipts of $8.2 billion and employed nearly 53,000 people in 2002 (the last year for which data is available).
    * If all unauthorized immigrants were removed from Pennsylvania, the state would lose $5.3 billion in expenditures, $2.3 billion in economic output, and about 27,000 jobs.

There is no denying the contributions immigrants, Latinos, and Asians make and the important role they play in Pennsylvania's political and economic future. Pennsylvania's budget deficit was not created by immigrants and it won't be filled by attacking them. For more data on the contributions of immigrants, Latinos, and Asians to Pennsylvania's economy, view the IPC fact sheet in its entirety at www.immigrationpolicy.org.

The Elitist Special Interest Groups that support the ILLEGALS continue to group legal immigrants with the ILLEGALS to support their agenda and attempt to confuse the issue of the ILLEGALS invading our Nation!

What a pile of BS! Illegal aliens are not helping the economy in PA at all, they are sucking it dry just like everywhere else they go!

I don't understand how any legal immigrants (former and current) would support illegal immigration, it makes us all look bad. Legal immigrants (who have become US citizens and not through the previous amnesties) have worked too hard and sacrificed too much to remain silent any longer!

I let my senators/reps know I was an immigrant and illegal immigration offends me.

Why do some legal immigrants who are now United States Citizens desire to partner themselves with criminal ILLEGALS? I would think they would want to distance themselves from the ILLEGALS! Could it be just the Special Interest Groups that benefit from the ILLEGALS fabricating a play for power and of course money!

Illegals are as valuable to us as pond scum.

Yes, I guess the tax payers of Pa that pay 728 million dollars each year for health care, incarcertation and education to accomodate illegals get that money back from all the taxes illegals pay into their system! Nonsense.

Whoever wrote this isn't an economist----with any historical sense, anyway. Ever since UFW and Cesar Chavez sued to protect their jobs from automation we have gradually been developing a greater dependence on imported labor.
That's what happens when you let lawyers run things....
