From the Dallas Morning News, an illegal alien from Jordan was arrested in Italy, Texas for plotting to bomb a skyscraper after coming to the U.S. specifically to commit jihad.

I’m sure the State Department and DHS will be all over the consular officials and immigration enforcement lapses that led to his entrance into the country and ability to work and blend in a la the 9/11 Visa Express beneficiaries!

Details:

Federal authorities arrested a 19-year-old Jordanian citizen whom they said placed an inactive car bomb today at Fountain Place, a 60-story skyscraper in downtown Dallas.

Hosam Maher Husein Smadi has repeatedly voiced his intent to serve Osama bin Laden and al-Qa’ida and commit “violent Jihad,â€

DALLAS - A teenage terrorism suspect who officials said tried to blow up a downtown Dallas skyscraper had been previously a couple weeks before trying to carry out his plot, officials said.

An Ellis County sheriff's deputy arrested Mosam Maher Husein Smadi on Sept. 11 for not having a driver's license or insurance.

The 19-year-old paid a $550 fine and was released.

Authorities did not release further details about the incident.

However, according to FBI agents, Smadi originally planned wanted to follow through with his the bombing on that day. At some point, they said, he decided to wait until after Ramadan, which ended Sunday.

"Sam," as friends called him, worked at a Shell station as a cashier and hung out at another convenience store across the way.

His friends there were among those who federal and local law enforcement officials interviewed, as well as executing a search warrant at his small apartment.

A neighbor said she would wave at Smadi, who was friendly but kept to himself. When the investigation began, the woman said she never thought the teen would be the suspect in a terrorism pot.

"First off, I thought it might have been drugs, or killed someone," Danielle Willborn said. "This I never even thought of. it really shocked me."

FBI agents arrested Smadi on Thursday afternoon for attempting to detonate an inactive car bomb near Fountain Place, a 60-story glass office tower located at 1445 Ross Avenue.

Smadi is charged with attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction.

Why did Ellis County let him go when he was arrested on Sept 11th? Didn't they think to phone his name in to see if he was wanted as a felon or terrorist suspect?

the reason its called Fountain place. for those who have never been to dallas is because all around it on three sides are small water fountains.
