An illegal immigrant from Honduras is behind bars in the Rio Grande Valley after being accused of sexually abusing special education student.

McAllen police booked 25-year-old William Alfredo Martinez into the Hidalgo County Jail on an aggravated sexual assault of a child charge late last week.

Court records obtained by Action 4 News show that Martinez is accused of sexually abusing a 14-year-old special education student.

Investigators first learned about the allegations after the school called the girl's mother to ask why she was not in school.

An investigation revealed that Martinez had been sexually abusing the girl and left his mobile home without telling anybody.

Officers found Martinez living in Pharr where he had fake identification documents.

Martinez allegedly tried to lie about his name and age saying he was juvenile but investigators were able to learn his true identity.

Action 4 News does not identify victims of sexual abuse but court records show that Martinez had access to the girl through her family.

Martinez allegedly lied to the family telling them he was 17 years old.

The Honduran immigrant remains in custody at the Hidalgo County Jail under a $185,000 bond and an immigration detainer.
