Man grabs stun gun from police officer

WACO - What began as a car chase early Saturday morning ended with a man stealing a police officer's stun gun and trying to use it on another officer.

28-year old Carlos Hernandez lead police on a car chase through Waco starting on Valley Mills Drive, He then crashed his car into a house near the corner of Sanger and 20th street.

An officer tackled Hernandez when he tried to run, and then stunned him with a taser.

Hernandez was able to wrestle free , grabbed the officers stun gun and took off running once again.

Police finallycaught up with him and tackled Hernandez to the ground, in the struggle Hernandez tried to use the taser on one of the officers but failed.

Hernandez was taken to a hospital Saturday morning, and taken to the McLennan county jail Tuesday.

"It was a constant struggle," said Waco Police Sergeant Melvin Roseborough. "He just did not want to be caught. He was going to do everything he could do to try not to be caught."

Hernandez is being held with out bail due to an immigration hold. He has five charges including two counts of evading arrest, resisting arrest, failure to I.D. and for making a terroristic threat.
