Brownsville police have made another large money seizure during a traffic stop in which the driver claimed to not know who the cash belonged.
Police seized nearly $700,000 in cash at a traffic stop that occurred at Saturday at the 1100 block of S. Frontage Road, near 12th Street.
A patrol officer had stopped the driver of 2007 Chevrolet Silverado for a traffic violation Saturday afternoon. While being questioned by the officer, the driver appeared nervous and gave conflicting stories as to where he was headed, police said.
The officer received consent to search the pickup truck and found a duffle bag full of money in the back seat. The driver said he did not know who the money belonged to, said police spokesman J.J. Trevino.
This is the second largest cash seizure that occurred in the past two weeks. On June 11, police found nearly $390,000 hidden inside a SUV.
Authorities said the cash was hidden inside a Chevrolet Tahoe. The driver in this case also stated he did not know who the money belonged to.
