An Austin woman is facing deportation after being sentenced Thursday in connection to a case alleging she wore a mask while assaulting a person in January.

Ararli Livier Hernandez-Rodriguez, 25, received a stay of imposition for 10 years and must cooperate with federal immigration officials, according to Mower District Court records.

Judge Fred Wellmann gave Hernandez-Rodriguez credit for more than 160 days served in jail while sentencing her after she pleaded guilty to single counts of felony aggravated forgery and misdemeanor fifth-degree assault, court documents show.

Hernandez-Rodriguez had been using a fraudulent driver's license in the name of Carmen Oralia Martinez to identify herself to police, including for at least three court cases since 2003 in Mower County.

When she pleaded in early May, Hernandez-Rodriguez didn't admit guilt for the assault charge but acknowledged a jury likely would find her guilty.

Under a plea agreement, prosecutors dismissed Hernandez-Rodriguez's most serious charges, including felony counts of first-degree burglary with a dangerous weapon and second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon causing substantial bodily harm.

Eric Herendeen, chief deputy county attorney, said those charges were dismissed because prosecutors didn't think they could prove them beyond a reasonable doubt.

In January, Hernandez-Rodriguez was arrested by Austin police for allegedly breaking into a residence and injuring a woman with a lug wrench or tire iron.

According to the criminal complaint, Hernandez-Rodriguez hit the sleeping woman because the alleged victim was dating Hernandez-Rodriguez's ex-boyfriend. She allegedly beat the 24-year-old woman with a large, metal object, possibly a lug wrench.

The woman woke up and recognized Hernandez-Rodriguez when the assailant's mask fell off, the complaint says. The victim sustained a broken hand and many bruises.

I notice the article does not mention her being charged with ID fraud.

Also, I love the headline-"possible deportaton"

Possible? How about definite deportation. She is illegal, so deport her
