AUSTIN (KXAN) — An Austin man has been charged with the aggravated kidnapping of a 68-year-old woman from an incident last month.

Nicodemo Coria-Gonzalez, 26, was arrested last week on the first degree felony charge.

On July 23 at around 1:50 a.m., police were called following the incident. The victim told police she was sitting in the 700 block of W. St. Johns Ave., when a man drove up next to her asking if she needed a ride.

The woman, who uses a walking cane, accepted the ride because she needed to go to the store. Police say Coria-Gonzalez began driving east on St. Johns, in the opposite direction of the store.

After passing another convenience store, Coria-Gonzalez told the victim he was taking her to his house, according to a police affidavit.

After the victim tried to escape the vehicle, the suspect sped up and parked his vehicle on a dirt path on Ferguson Lane. Police say Coria-Gonzalez hit and then sexually assaulted the woman.

The man then drove away, leaving the victim. Police say she crawled down Ferguson Lane where she was able to flag down a driver to call 911.

The victim’s cell phone was left in the suspect’s car as he drove away. Austin police say the attack was similar to a previous case involving a stabbing of a woman they were investigating. The suspect’s description and vehicle description matched the prior case as well. The police department also said cell phone data records show the victim’s cell phone was used during the attack not far from the suspect’s house on Center Ridge Drive.

Authorities were able to identify Coria-Gonzalez as the suspect in the case. While the victim was not able to positively identify him, she said Coria-Gonzalez had the same head shape, facial features and body shape as the man who raped her, the affidavit continued.

Coria-Gonzalez was arrested last Friday, Aug. 12. During the police interview, he said he took prostitutes to his “garden” in the 2700 block of Ferguson Lane. When showed a photo of the dirt path on Ferguson Lane where the alleged assault took place, he confirmed it as the location to police.

While Coria-Gonzalez claimed it to be consensual, he told police he would “beat” the women out of anger when they would raise the agreed upon price. He admitted to taking six different women to the described location.

His bond has been set at $390,000 from multiple charges. He is also currently being held on an Immigration and Naturalization Service detainer.
