District Judge Alfonso Charles handed a 25-year prison term this week to a man convicted of child indecency by contact and aggravated sexual assault, District Attorney Carl Dorrough's office reported.

Assistant District Attorney Madison Hood said Saturnino Saucedo Torres, 42, will be deported to Mexico after serving his term in the Institutional Division of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

A Longview resident, Torres has been held under an Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainer since his arrest in October 2015.

He also was held on a $150,000 bond on the charges.

Torres pleaded guilty to assaulting a girl who was 13 at the time on Sept. 19, 2015.

Hood said the child's family was in agreement with the sentence issued Wednesday.

"He will serve his time in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and then be deported," Hood said. "He admitted to touching the child inappropriately."

The assaults came to light, the prosecutor said, when the girl told an adult.

The case was investigated by Longview Police Detective Audrey Wright with help from the Children's Advocacy Center of Gregg and Harrison Counties.

The advocacy center is a nonprofit agency that works with law enforcement to help children 18 and younger who are suspected victims of physical abuse or have witnessed violent crimes.
