U.S. Border Patrol Agents Arrest Aggravated Felon

U.S. Border Patrol Agents Arrest Aggravated Felon

    Release Date: February 5, 2020

EL PASO, Texas – An aggravated felon
attempting to illegally cross into the United States was arrested by El Paso Sector Border Patrol Agents Monday.

U.S. Border Patrol agents conducting operations near the Paso Del Norte port of entry were alerted by a video surveillance system to a person attempting to make an illegal entry. An agent responded to the area where he encountered a man who was found to have an extensive criminal history.

    Jorge Mora-Delgado

Record checks at the El Paso Border Patrol Station revealed that
Jorge Mora-Delgado, a 49-year-old Mexican national, had an active warrant for a probation violation through the United States Marshal’s Service headquarters in Arlington, Virginia.

Mora’s previous criminal history includes a conviction for aggravated felony conviction for attempted murder in Los Angeles, California in March 2006 for which he served 13 years in prison. He will remain in custody pending criminal prosecution.

Criminal aliens frequently attempt to illegally enter through our borders, concealing themselves amongst family units or taking advantage of the current illegal immigration crisis. The men and women of the United States Border Patrol continue to make every effort to disrupt and halt these criminal acts before they make an impact in our communities.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection welcomes assistance from the community. Citizens are encouraged to report suspicious activity to the U.S. Border Patrol, while remaining anonymous by calling 1-800-635-2509 toll-free.

It is important to note that an arrest should not be considered evidence of guilt, and subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
