Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents assigned to the Blythe station arrested an illegal alien who had an extensive criminal history on Monday

Agent Shaun Kuzia, a spokesman for the Yuma Sector, said at about 1 p.m., Border Patrol agents stopped a 2007 Land Rover on Interstate 10 near Blythe. During the stop, agents determined that the driver, a 39-year old Iraqi citizen, was in the U.S. illegally.

"The man stated that he had legal immigration documents, but he did not have them on him," Kuzia said.

Agents arrested the Iraqi man and transported him to the Blythe Border Patrol Station for processing.

At the station, agents ran a records checks on the man and discovered that he had a lengthy criminal record, including charges for the distribution of marijuana, conspiracy, money laundering and a murder conviction for which he served eight years in prison.

"The bottom line is, we got a dangerous criminal off the streets," Kuzia said. "Even after serving extensive time in prison, he didn't learn his lesson and continued to get involved in dangerous criminal organizations that preyed upon and hurt people. It finally caught up to him."

The Iraqi man will be processed for deportation and sent back to Iraq. Kuzia added that the man had previously been ordered removed from the country by an immigration judge twice before, once in 1999 and again in 2010, but was never deported.

In addition to being arrested and charged with DUI in 2005, the Iraqi man was also arrested back in Chandler in February on drug charges.

Kuzia added the Iraqi man's murder conviction was out of San Diego. He was originally sentenced to 20 years in prison but only served eight years.

Sentenced to 20 years for murder and only served 8...WTF???

Was ordered deported in 2010 but he didn't leave...WTF??? Do you tthink they might have known about his murder conviction and would have concluded he would ignore the letter telling hm to leave.

We have a very idiotic system that is just downright embarrassing...

Then it MUST have been a racist officer that didn't JUST believe him.
