GOP bid on plan for immigrant kids nixed
WASHINGTON – The Senate defeated an effort yesterday by Republicans to make it harder for states to extend government-sponsored health insurance to children of legal immigrants.
By voice vote, senators rejected an amendment that would have required states to extend health coverage to the vast majority of other low-income children first before covering legal immigrants.
The vote came amid debate on legislation to boost spending on the State Children's Health Insurance Program by $31.5 billion.

Shouldn't you provide health insurance for your OWN children before paying for your new neighbor's children? I think that is the essence of what is being said. CITIZEN children should be given priority over legal immigrant kids who just moved here last week.
In the end the very kids it was designed to help will be pushed out by allowing families with incomes up to a 100K and legal and illegals to join. This is being funded by cigarette taxes and the govt. included 75 MILLION in the stimulus package to "smoking cessation" programs. It's estimated they will need over 3 MILLION new smokers to fund this program. It's obvious, something else will have to be taxed sooner or later.

Why is this just for children?
In many parts of the country if you turn 65 and sign up for Medicare, and pay for it, you can't find a doctor who will accept any new Medicare patients because Medicare only pays $24 for an office visit and a doctor can't even pay his office rent and staff wages on that, much less have anything for themselves. The same is true with Medicaid. It is very difficult to find a doctor who will accept them as patients. So that leaves them to wait until they get more serious and have to go to the emergency room to see a doctor. As more and more people become unemployed and lose their health coverage it will only get worse.NO AMNESTY

Emergency doctors sue over Medi-Cal
(Medi-Cal is what Medicaid is called in CA.)
Reimbursement rates lag as costs surge, they say

LOS ANGELES — A coalition of emergency doctors took the state to court yesterday over low reimbursement rates for Medi-Cal patients.
In a lawsuit filed against the California Department of Health Care Services, doctors said Medi-Cal payments have remained low during the past 17 years while the cost of providing care has nearly doubled.
The physicians also complained that the number of uninsured and underinsured patients has become untenable because 85 hospitals and 55 emergency rooms have closed in the past decade.
In 2007, the doctors provided $100 million in unpaid services, according to the lawsuit.

Medicaid, school aid would grow sizably
Medicaid, school aid would grow sizably
NEW YORK TIMES NEWS SERVICE 2:00 a.m. January 28, 2009
Online: To see what school districts would get under the federal stimulus package, go to uniontrib.com/more/stimulus
WASHINGTON — The economic stimulus package moving through Congress would vastly expand the federal government's role in the nation's schools and create a temporary new entitlement allowing workers getting unemployment checks to qualify for Medicaid, the health program for low-income people.
The $150 billion, two-year investment in school districts, child-care centers and university campuses would more than double the Department of Education's current budget.
For health care, the economic recovery bill shaped by Democrats would speed $127 billion over the same period to individuals and states, a fact that has Republicans fuming that the stimulus package is a back door to universal health coverage. Spouses and children also could receive benefits, no matter how much money the family had.
In addition, the stimulus package would offer a hefty subsidy to help laid-off workers retain the same health plans they had from their former employers.
The expenditures on education, including school renovation, special education, Head Start and grants to needy college students, would amount to the largest increase in federal aid since Washington began to spend significantly on education after World War II.
Responding in part to a plea from Democratic governors this month, Congress agreed to help states facing large fiscal shortfalls maintain government services, and especially to avoid cuts to education programs, from pre-kindergarten through higher education.
Obama administration officials, teachers unions and associations representing school boards, colleges and other institutions in American education said the aid would bring crucial financial relief to the nation's 15,000 school districts and to thousands of campuses otherwise threatened with severe cutbacks.

The simple answer to this is that they are using the same tatics they used back in the sixties. The hippies started then because of the draft and I did not blame them then but it has turned into liberals hating America. No one mentions all the money the American taxpayers give in foreign aid to most of the entire world, not to mention the non functioning Nato organization. Well, I for one am totally fed up with the stupid liberals blaming their own country for all the evils in the world. Mexico wants the southwest back and it looks like it will get it. The rest of us will be over run with violence and disease until they accomplish this. I hope the brain dead liberals get a good taste of Mexico who is no more corrupt than our own government.
