Guess the suspect in these murders in Yuma is just one of Bush's "good-hearted folks" here to "do the jobs Americans won't do."

Slain Yuma man called good father by estranged wife
The Associated Press

YUMA - A man who was slain with his girlfriend and her four children was a good father and good person, his estranged wife said yesterday.
Luis Rios, 35, was also a fair businessman who turned around a liquor store he had co-owned for two years, said Rebecca Rios.

She had been separated from Luis Rios since January after five years of marriage.

"I know that we weren't somewhat together, but I still loved the man," Rebecca Rios said during an interview at her home. "I was devastated."

Luis Rios was found with gunshot wounds Friday in the back yard of the home he shared with his girlfriend, Adrienne Heredia, 29. He died later at a hospital.

Heredia was found inside the home with her son, Danny Heredia III, 6; her daughter, Inez Newman, 9; and two other sons - Andreas Crawford, 13, and Enrique Bedoya, 12.

The names of the older boys had initially been withheld because authorities hadn't been able to notify their father, police said.

Autopsies were to be performed on all the victims yesterday.

Police are looking for a man seen running from the scene of the killings shortly after the shots were fired. The man was described as in his late 20s or early 30s with stocky build and buzz-cut hair.

Lt. John Lekan said the description came from a single witness. Authorities aren't sure if more than one person was involved.

Authorities said they were also receiving calls from tipsters and others trying to help solve the killings, but no new leads had emerged by yesterday.

"This type of investigation, because of the complexity of it, is not going to take a few minutes," Police Chief William Robinson said.

Rebecca Rios said she learned of the killings Saturday morning. Among her first thoughts was the location of the 9-year-old daughter she had with Rios. The girl had been dropped off with Rios on Friday afternoon but was elsewhere with an uncle when the killings occurred, she said.

Rebecca Rios said a composite sketch released by police of the man they were looking for wasn't recognizable to her.

She said she was frustrated by the lack of information about the killings.

"I want to know he didn't suffer, and I want to know the story of what happened," she said. "Who's to say we ever will?"

Rebecca Rios, who had discussed a divorce with Rios, said she was upset by her husband's relations with Heredia but could put that aside to share her sympathy with the woman's family. "I know it's devastating," she said.

Rebecca Rios' mother, Christa Stairhime, said the killing was shocking.

"It's hard, especially when you don't know why," she said.

The killings stunned neighbors in this southwestern Arizona community, which had only three homicides reported all last year. There had been two this year until Friday's killings.

Tracy Ortiz, a friend of Heredia's, said Heredia and Rios were good people.

Another friend, Linda Guerrero, said Rios "was really good for her. She had just started to be really happy."
