U.S. deports man in passport scheme
Published July 12, 2005
CHICAGO -- Immigration and Customs officials deported an Ecuadorian man Monday who was convicted of smuggling hundreds of children into the country in a passport scheme.
Henry Bolivar Rendon-Arizaga, 28, of Chicago was part of a scheme that charged illegal immigrants fees of $12,000 to $14,000 for fake passports with the immigrants' pictures on them.
He pleaded guilty in January to providing the photographs of South Americans who wanted the passports.
A number of U.S. citizens participated in the scheme by applying for legitimate passports, then handing them over to be altered, prosecutors charged.
Rendon-Arizaga received 12 months in prison and has been in federal custody since his arrest in July 2004.Support our FIGHT AGAINST illegal immigration & Amnesty by joining our E-mail Alerts at http://eepurl.com/cktGTn
