This week, former Colorado State Senator Polly Baca said of U.S. Air Force veteran, Gregory Williams of Broomfield, "My family has been in Colorado for several hundred years before your family got here. We founded Colorado and helped write our state constitution. Go back to Europe or wherever you came from. We don't need ignorant people who don't know our history here in this state. Your hate-filled and misguided ramblings don't deserve any further response."

In a country where minorities hurl racist charges at everyone that stands up for the U.S. Constitution, Baca’s comments create an acid taste in the mouths of all Americans. The United States provides more immigration, food, housing, medical care and opportunities for more people around the world than all other nations combined.

The fact remains, Baca’s forefathers consisted of “Conquistadorsâ€

But for Baca to spread venom that everyone outside her ethnic group should go back to Europe—does little to bring peace to America. In reality, she would have to go back to Spain.
Exactly. I swear, this is going to get ugly if these people don't wake up and stop this bs.

Simply amazing that people of her caliber seem to forget what had transpired when the Spaniards had come in to this country and into Mexico. And to overlook that Spain is a European nation as well!

If it’s so bad in the United States and racism hinders them, why do they stay here?
That's what I want to know. I have never seen such an ungreatful and demanding group of people who just hate everything and think they deserve so much. For what? Many of them don't have a stellar peaceful and non-violent past that one would hold up as an example. Who exactly would want them with that attitude? Certainly not American material or any group who works for the well being of all. I mean she was a Senator? And America held her back how? Not every single solitary person of every different race and ethnic background are guarenteed a life of riches and ease and no problems and no effort required. I'm sure there were people there long before her, and Spanish wasn't the native language.

From what I've read, they were more brutal and vile than anyone. Not exactly something to be proud of and obviously not advanced much since then.

This is interesting...........says she is child of migrant worker....

Baca-Barragán was born in Greeley, Colorado, in 1943. She is the daughter of Spanish Americans José Manuel, a former migrant farm worker, and Leda Sierra, a strong and fiercely independent woman.

The oldest of four children, Polly Baca was born in 1941 (some sources say 1943) in Greeley, Colorado. Her parents, Jose Manuel and Leda Sierra Baca, were migrant farmers who worked hard to support their family. Baca remembered in particular that her mother instilled a deep sense of pride in her—pride in her heritage and in her ability to succeed.

Very interesting uniteasone! So it looks as if Polly Baca could very well be an anchor baby and the family that has been here for hundreds of years, which she refers to, must be her reconquista family...metaphorically of course!

The Bacas are descended from a Spanish soldier who settled in New Mexico and farmed there. Some of the family did well at various points in time. Part of the family did not do as well and there were many places in greater New Mexico which included modern Colorado where the Hispanos were living in poverty pockets. Before the Mexican bracero era it was not unusual for poor Hispanos from rural backgrounds to spend time working as migrant labor just as the Okies did.

There were Bacas who had farms employing a hundred or more Mestizos and Indians and it may be that she sees herself as the Padron or in her case Madron of the incoming Mexican peons.
I support enforcement and see its lack as bad for the 3rd World as well. Remittances are now mostly spent on consumption not production assets. Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)
