Undocumented mother of 12 aided by Mexican government to fight deportation

    3:15 PM. CDT March 25, 2017

EDINBURG, TX - An undocumented mother of 12 is fighting deportation and she’s getting help from the Mexican Consulate in McAllen, Texas.

She’s one of hundreds across the country targeted in renewed federal efforts to crack down on criminal aliens.

Norma Roman tries to keep herself and her children busy. The mother, whose kids were all born in the U.S., helps her kids with their homework to take their minds off a grim reality: the possible separation from their mother.

She says she’s placing her faith in god and in her attorney. She currently has an "order of removal" by Immigration and Customs Enforcement after multiple run-ins with the law.

In 2011, Norma overstayed her visa and left the country only to be smuggled back days later.

In September, Norma was arrested for taking an extra $5,000 in food stamps, aid Norma claims she didn’t know she wasn’t supposed to receive.

She says that she spent 36 days in jail and paid the money back.

But with limited resources to fight deportation, the 39-year-old turned to the Mexican Consulate for help.

Consul Guillermo Ordorica says that all 50 Mexican Consulates in the U.S. were instructed by the Mexican government to provide legal aid and create what are known as "centers for defense."

It’s all in response to the increasing number of immigration raids by the Trump administration.

“Because of narratives that have been running around in all around the country, our people have expressed some fears about their condition in the country,” Consul Ordorica said.

Norma says that the consulate helped pay for legal services and petitioned the U.S. government for a stay of deportation.

Her concerns are for the care of her children. She says that two of her kids have learning disabilities and are under treatment, while her husband is gone three months at a time as a seasonal worker.

Having her kids taken by the government is something Norma doesn’t want for her children.

No matter what happens, the undocumented mother says she will return to the U.S. any way possible.

    UPDATE:

Norma Roman says that her petition to stay has been denied and is waiting to find out when exactly she’s required to turn herself in to be deported. When asked if Norma falls under Trump’s priorities for removal, ICE replied saying that they are looking into the case and may respond with another statement on a later date.

What is wrong with these people? 12 kids. Where is their sense of responsibility. What would become of the world if everyone had 12 kids. We'd be overpopulated. Part of the problem is that these people were allowed to remain in the country for too many years. Reading these stories makes me so angry.

She can take her 12 kids with her to Mexico and let that government take care of them.

My immigrant Italian great grandmother had 12 children. This back in the early 1900's. I don't think there were any safety nets back then, so the family was able to support itself. The family was Catholic, so maybe that had something to do with it. Her daughter, my grandmother only had two children.

On a side note. Both my grandmother's parents immigrated from Italy. I never met them. I ask my grandmother if knew Italian. She told me she only new a few words, but couldn't speak or write Italian. My grandmother was as American as you can get.

It was not uncommon at all many years ago for Americans to have large families. It was before birth control and the number of children you had was really just the consequence of having sex and how reliable the rhythm method worked if you knew about it and that applied to all people, all religions, and citizens and immigrants alike. I'm sure you're grandmother was a wonderful American! That's why you're here working to save our nation from being gobbled up by the world. Our parents and grandparents and great grandparents and all the way back to the beginning didn't start this country for a bunch of globalist crooks on the take with drug cartels to steal it from US.

Well she gets a nice fat check every month - we get to pay extra for the learning disability ones. Have seen many of them too, screaming, crying and they are ignored by the mother. Have noticed most of the illegal crossers have 10 siblings, so common practice in their country.

The worst part @ any sort of amnesty or even the 250,000 central american border "children" that only 2% are deported, is they will ask for ALL family to come here - nuclear family. Same with the refugees - all these intruders, 20x the numbers in the near future. And still taking them in! That has to change. Americans should be informed more in the media of just how many more bodies each person allowed to stay here can bring - his entire family - talk those numbers.

In these countries, women have a very low status, no respect, just to be used for the males purposes and if she is lazy @ her duties to protect herself from more pregnancies or demand the male does, you have 12 kids - maybe the monies, freebies are the incentive too,

Never fear, it seems our governor and Pres. Trump met and a communications company is relocating in American and 800 of those job will be in Texas - one specifically in McAllen. It will be a BI-LINGUAL call center. Maybe she can get a job there, and we will let her stay so we can continue to support all those children.

The fact is, with these deceitful people, we have no way of proving, short of DNA, if these children are even hers.

Yes, there are plenty of bi-lingual Americans in the McAllen area - but how many illegals will this company employ????

12 ANCHOR BABIES COST $30,000 PER BIRTH!!!

$360,000 bill to US taxpayers to pay for! For one illegal breeder. Add in the monthly checks and healthcare.

DEPORT HER AND HER KIDS. THEY HAVE TAKEN ENOUGH FROM OUR COUNTRY. GET THE HUSBAND OUT OF HERE TOO.
ILLEGAL ALIENS HAVE "BROKEN" OUR IMMIGRATION SYSTEM

DO NOT REWARD THEM - DEPORT THEM ALL
