UPDATE -Media pities illegal rather than the American children she killed

Media pities illegal rather than the American children she killed

Reading the news story in the Oregon press by reporter Emily E. Smith (1) makes me want to cry for the “victim,” Dreamer Cinthya Garcia-Cisneros who just happened to mow down two helpless little girls playing in a pile of leaves.

This magnificent Fall symbol of innocent childhood playtime became a scene of abject horror and death for little Anna Dieter-Eckerdt, 6, who died amidst the leaves of an Oregon autumn while her step-sister, Abigail Robinson, 11, died later in a Portland, Oregon hospital. Now this insensitive, obviously very left leaning reporter, chose to ignore the true victims of what happened, giving only one sentence, her lead, plus one small phrase to the dead children.

But Smith goes on and on about now the life of 18 year old Garcia-Cisneros is changed forever, because, somehow, this teen illegal, now “legal” immigrant drove her boyfriend’s mother’s car into the Autumn leaves, leaving death in her wake. Reporter Smith commiserates for the “undocumented immigrant” by stating: “She cooked for them-her brother and father- and often took care of her 10-year-old nephew, who is disabled.”

Pointing out that the accused now faces two felony hit and run charges does not appear until paragraph five in the Smith piece. Her passenger, Mario Echeverria, her love interest, faces one count of hindering prosecution because allegedly he took the family SUV to a car wash. Perhaps the bump the Hispanics heard prompted them to take a second look after allegedly leaving the scene of the Autumn leaves.

Just consider how reporter Smith drills in on how this Hispanic driver now will be impacted:

“(She) was born in Mexico, has lived nearly all of her life in the U.S… has a driver’s license, a valid Social Security number…a temporary renewable work permit under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals. . .”

    (2) Because, perhaps, of the largesse of President Barack Obama who ordered this young Hispanic woman and many of her fellow Dreamers into semi-legal status by means of executive fiat, these two ignored young girls are dead. Coincidence, unintended consequences, or what?

The insensitive, politically correct reporter goes on to bemoan how the accused wants her own family, her own children, wanted to go into beauty school. Hello, Reporter Smith. Why not provide readers with a eulogy for the little girls who never will have their own lives, or their own children, or who never will get to look beautiful? Listen to this Smith gem: “She (the driver) can’t believe what’s going on, why it happened. . .She cries a lot.” Not one word from Reporter Smith about tears shed by the families of the dead little girls, the real victims of this F grade news story.

A cub reporter in a 50′s journalism class would not have made it to Reporting 102 with coverage like this. We had to delineate PRIORITIES of facts before we could put anything out there for print consumption! Over and over our professors told us to lead with loss of life FIRST. But then, our pitiful press has completely flipped what is and is not priority here in America.

This terrible October news story prompted a CiR commenter to respond: “There were 2 kids killed. How were they not seen by the driver. . .the writer of this article fails to show any remorse for the kids killed, but focuses on the poor illegal alien!”

The New York state resident is appalled by how illegals tear through her rural community, often sporting Illinois license plates, which, in turn, can be used to buy legal tags from New York. “There are so many new arrivals, the traffic has increased by at least a third,” she says.

So from coast to coast, shining sea to shining sea, our executive in the Oval office sees fit to let illegals Dream their way onto our streets, our Autumn leaves, our lives, yet evidently feels no compunction for legal U.S. citizens. But, perhaps, the politically correct Oregonian press story is simply doing what it does best, seeing the misery of anyone or anything but what is America, our America now in the Autumn of its years.

Forest Grove fatal crash: Cinthya Garcia-Cisneros, charged in wreck that killed girls

Forest Grove fatal crash: Cinthya Garcia-Cisneros, charged in wreck that killed girls, declines plea deal

Cinthya Garcia-Cisneros appears in Washington County Circuit Court for her arraignment on charges in the crash that killed 6-year-old Anna Dieter-Eckerdt and 11-year-old Abigail Robinson, of Forest Grove. (Benjamin Brink/The Oregonian)

The driver charged in a crash that fatally injured two young stepsisters in Forest Grove turned down a plea deal last week, according to her defense attorney.
Cinthya Garcia-Cisneros, 18, is charged with two counts of felony hit and run in the Oct. 20 crash that killed Anna Dieter-Eckerdt, 6, and Abigail Robinson, 11.

Defense lawyer Ethan Levi said prosecutors offered Garcia-Cisneros a deal of 16 months in prison if she pleaded guilty to one of those counts. The offer remains on the table until next week, Levi said, but Garcia-Cisneros declined it during a pre-trial conference last week.

“It was an offer that, for a number of reasons, didn’t make sense,” he said.
Garcia-Cisneros’ attorneys have said that their client, who reportedly came to the United States from Mexico as a young child, has a driver’s license, Social Security number and temporary renewable work permit under the federal Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program. The program is available to undocumented immigrants who entered the U.S. before turning 16, are 30 or younger, have been living here for at least five years and are in school, graduated from high school or served in the military. Applicants cannot have certain criminal convictions.

“We don’t think she’s guilty of the crimes,” Levi said, “and we think that if she did accept the plea it would lead to her certain deportation.”

Senior Deputy District Attorney Bracken McKey, who is prosecuting the case, declined to comment.

Police say Anna and Abigail were playing and apparently lying down in a leaf pile when they were struck. Anna died at the scene. Abigail died the next night at a Portland hospital.

Court records say Garcia-Cisneros felt a significant bump after she purposely drove through a large leaf pile on Main Street. After she arrived home a few blocks away, her 17-year-old brother returned to the scene on Main Street and told his sister she had “run over a child,” records say. Garica-Cisneros’ boyfriend, 18-year-old Mario Echeverria, took the SUV to a car wash after the crash to destroy evidence, according to records.

Police arrested both Garcia-Cisneros and Echeverria after investigating a neighbor's tip. In Washington County Circuit Court, Garcia-Cisneros was charged with two counts of felony hit and run. Echeverria faces one count of hindering prosecution and one count of tampering with physical evidence.

Now, we get to support her in prison.

Oregon teen who killed 2 in fatal leaf pile hit-run found guilty

    Published January 15, 2014Associated Press

HILLSBORO, ORE. – A 19-year-old Oregon woman who drove an SUV into a pile of leaves that concealed two girls has been found guilty in the fatal hit-and-run case.

A Washington County jury took less than two hours Wednesday afternoon to find Cinthya Garcia-Cisneros guilty of felony charges, The Oregonian reported.

The woman learned after arriving home Oct. 20 she may have struck two children on Main Street in Forest Grove — 25 miles west of Portland — but didn't come forward. Police found her the following day.

The prosecution said she was required to return to the scene of the accident as soon as she learned of it. Her defense lawyer said the law doesn't say anything about the requirements when a driver learns only later about an accident.

Garcia-Cisneros was on her way home from getting fast food when she drove through the leaves. Her boyfriend and brother were passengers in the vehicle.

Neighbors had raked piles near the curb for leaf pick-up. Garcia-Cisneros hit the leaves shortly before 8:30 p.m., she testified, and felt a bump.

Within minutes, her brother returned to the scene on his way to his girlfriend's house and saw a man standing over the pile, screaming. The man spoke to him briefly.

The boy went home and told his sister she may have hit two children. The girls were later identified as step-sisters, 6-year-old Anna Dieter-Eckerdt and 11-year-old Abigail Robinson. Anna died at the scene. Abigail died later at a Portland hospital.

Defense attorney Ethan Levi said Garcia-Cisneros was in a state of denial after learning of the children and fixated on the possibility she wasn't the driver who struck them. Levi asked jurors to imagine themselves as a teen driver confronted with the same information.

"It would be shocking, and you would do anything you could to avoid it and disbelieve it," he said. "You would want to cling to every piece of evidence that it didn't happen."

Prosecutor Bracken McKey told jurors that Garcia-Cisneros' choice not to come forward was morally and legally wrong.

"She had an obligation to do the right thing," McKey said, "and she didn't."
KPTV reported sentencing is Jan. 31.
