U.S. Border Patrol Agents Arrest Three Felonious Gang Members

El Centro, Calif. – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the El Centro Sector arrested three street gang members early Monday morning. All three individuals had been previously incarcerated for various crimes and removed from the United States.

The first subject was arrested after he illegally entered the United States approximately 3.5 miles east of the Calexico Downtown port of entry. Records checks revealed that the subject has been convicted of robbery, driving under the influence causing bodily injury and possession of a controlled substance for sale.

Two more subjects were arrested after they illegally entered the United States approximately 12 miles east of the Calexico Downtown port of entry. Records checks revealed that one of the men has been convicted of aggravated assault and discharging a firearm from a vehicle. The other man has been convicted of illegal possession of a controlled substance, failure to stop at command of police and a misdemeanor domestic violence crime.

During processing, all three individuals were determined to be members of the Sureños 13 street gang. They are being held at the Imperial County Jail.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is the unified border agency within the Department of Homeland Security charged with the management, control and protection of our nation's borders at and between the official ports of entry. CBP is charged with keeping terrorists and terrorist weapons out of the country while enforcing hundreds of U.S. laws.
