Despite the overall decrease in Mexican illegal immigration, Mexico accounts for the majority of undocumented immigrants in Arizona, a new report estimates.

The report said 229,000 unauthorized Mexican nationals live in Arizona out of the estimated total undocumented population of 264,000 in the state.

The second largest population of undocumented immigrants comes from Central America. An estimated 11,000 people are here illegally, most of them are from Guatemala.

About 13,000 undocumented immigrants from Asia live in Arizona, 5,000 from Europe and Canada, 3,000 from Africa and 2,000 from South America, the report showed.

The county's undocumented population from Guatemala has increased fivefold since 2000, said Marc Rosenblum, author of the report. The unauthorized population from Honduras in the U.S. has doubled in the same time.

Overall, despite the decrease in Mexican illegal immigration, Mexico alone accounts for more than half of the estimated 11 million unauthorized immigrants in the U.S.
