USBP Arrests Sex Offender

TECATE, Calif. — San Diego Sector Border Patrol agents arrested a previously deported sex-offender who attempted to enter the U.S. illegally Saturday morning.

On June 27, at approximately 6:30 a.m., Border Patrol agents assigned to the El Cajon Border Patrol Station were patrolling the United States/Mexico Border near Tecate, California and observed six people illegally enter the U.S.

All six subjects were arrested, identified, and fingerprinted on site. Subsequent record checks revealed that one of the subjects, a 28-year-old male Mexican national, had been previously convicted for sex crimes against a child.

Records showed that the man had been convicted in Nebraska for Committing Intentional Child Abuse in 2018, and was sentenced to 12 months in prison. The subject was subsequently removed from the U.S. in December 2018.

The man is now being held in Federal custody pending charges for felony illegal re-entry after deportation.

“I am proud of the great work agents demonstrated in arresting this child predator,” said San Diego Sector Chief Patrol Agent Aaron Heitke. “Their vigilance prevented this dangerous person from illegally entering our communities.”
