VA: Illegal immigrant charged in fatal crash

Illegal immigrant charged in fatal crash

Ashland, Va. -- A King William County man died Friday night when his vehicle was struck by another near Ashland, and an illegal immigrant was charged, authorities say.

The Hanover County Sheriff's Office identified the victim as Casey Ryan Bohr, 23, of the 7900 block of Dabney Mill Road in King William County.

Sheriff's officials charged Feliciano Aquas Suarez, 39, with driving under the influence and driving without a license. Suarez said he was from Mexico, and investigators were working yesterday to determine his U.S. address.

    Sheriff's officials gave this account:

Suarez was driving a 2000 Ford Explorer west on state Route 54, also called East Patrick Henry Boulevard, just east of Ashland on Friday about 10 p.m. when the vehicle entered the eastbound lane and sideswiped a 1998 Ford Explorer.

That caused the 1998 Explorer, driven by Bohr, to run off the road and overturn. Bohr was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seat belt, officials said.

A female passenger in Bohr's car was injured and taken to a hospital for treatment. Suarez also was hurt and taken to a hospital. Neither injury was life-threatening, said Hanover sheriff's Capt. Michael J. Trice.

"Upon his release from the hospital, [Suarez] will be transported to Pamunkey Regional Jail and charged with manslaughter," Hanover sheriff's officials said in a news release.

Suarez told investigators that he is in the country illegally, sheriff's officials said. The sheriff's office has contacted federal immigration officials.

Bohr was a happy, athletic man who liked to play softball and volleyball and was quick with a compliment, said friend Tracey Porch, 23, of Varina.

"He was such a sweet man. He was always smiling. . . . It's very sad," Porch said.

"He was a die-hard softball player, and he was great to have as a teammate," another friend, Steven Zahn, said in an e-mail.

The incident appears similar to one in Prince William County on Aug. 1 that drew widespread attention.

In that case, a man described as an illegal immigrant from Bolivia was charged after a crash in which one nun from Richmond died and two others were seriously injured.

Authorities say that suspect, Carlos A. Martinelly Montano, was driving drunk.

Porch, the friend of Bohr, said she was more disturbed by the drinking allegation against Suarez than his immigration status. People who drink and drive "are endangering everyone," she said.

Another one? And to think that just yesterday, this illegal invader would have qualified for the amnesty that traitors Obama, Napolitano, Reid, Pelosi, Holder, Gutierrez are pushing upon the American people.

Hell, there are no guarantees this illegal invader will not receive amnesty down the line. These bastards do not want any illegal invaders deported once here.

The problem No Bueno is this Night Mare Act will reward DUI offenders with amnesty and citizenship, once again proving this administration and congress don't care about Americans killed by those with no respect for our laws who have no legal right to be here. They care only about more votes and cheap labor. I don't think anything will change under the next Congress. Boehner received only a "C" rating from Numbers USA.

Actually DHS and ICE quietly added DUI to their "Policy" for removal in July or August. It was due to the overwhelming disgust caused when an IA killed that Nun.

She was more disturbed by the drinking alegation What about the fact that If he was not Illegally In OUR country, this guy would still be alive She Is not disturbed that there are thousands more of these accidents waiting to happen because Illegals are drinking and driving all over the United States.... What If an Illegal killed her (heaven forbid) or someone In her Immediate family. She Is not Immune from Illegals that are breaking our laws.... TS

A man facing manslaughter and other charges in Hanover County when his vehicle crossed into the path of an oncoming car was convicted three years ago of passing on a double solid line at nearly the same site as the fatal accident Friday night.

Feliciano Aguas-Suarez, 29, is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday morning in Hanover General District Court on charges of manslaughter and maiming while driving under the influence and driving on a revoked license.

Aguas-Suarez has told Hanover investigators that he is in this country illegally, according to the Hanover Sheriff’s Department.

Hanover court records show that Aguas-Suarez was convicted of passing on a solid line on East Patrick Henry Boulevard east of Ashland at almost the same location where 23-year-old Casey Ryan Bohr died Friday night.

He also was convicted of driving without a license. Aquas-Suarez was fined $200 and assessed costs of $60 in connection with the two convictions.

Bohr’s mother Monday afternoon described how she and her youngest son were returning home from Christmas shopping trip Friday night when a vehicle that investigators say was driven by Aquas-Suarez crossed the center line and sideswiped their car, sending it rolling several times into a roadside ditch.

"I never had a chance to even say a word, it happened so fast,â€
