Thousands Of MD Illegals Issued ID Cards

To think that average citizens, who have little or no influence with their state legislators or members of Congress, are footing the bill through their tax dollars so Casa can have such clout, is a fact stranger than fiction.

Thousands Of MD Illegals Issued ID Cards Without Proof Of Residency

    Chet Dembeck

Thousands of illegal aliens who are invading Maryland are being issued ID cards without any proof of residency by Casa of Maryland, a government-funded, nonprofit advocacy group.

The Montgomery County group admits to issuing more than 10,000 IDs, which are being used for illegals to cash their paychecks at banks and as one of three residency documents needed to enroll their children into the county's school -- at the taxpayers' expense.

All Casa requires is a government-issued ID card from the illegal's native country, the advocacy's officials tell the Examiner.

Perhaps I'm missing something here, but how can federal state and local officials stand idly by while this group flagrantly violates U.S. immigration laws?

    For more:

    Get this!

Because Casa is a nonprofit organization, it is exempt from paying any taxes -- unlike you or me.

However, each year it is required by law to file a special tax return called a 990, which is public record.

Casa's latest 990 (which is linked here) received by the IRS May 27, 2007, shows that the advocacy group collected $1.8 million in federal funding in its Fiscal Year 2005.

At the same time, it also collected $1.7 million in fees for providing its "job placement, employment right services and counseling."

So, Casa not only gets government funding to help defend and counsel illegals on how not to get deported, it also earns non-taxable fees for getting them jobs and giving them IDs!

According to Casa's tax return, it spent $112,117 to lobby members of the Maryland General Assembly and Congress, as well as state and federal officials.

    That's right!

To think that average citizens, who have little or no influence with their state legislators or members of Congress, are footing the bill through their tax dollars so Casa can have such clout, is a fact stranger than fiction.

Meanwhile, Maryland elected and business officials are already scrambling to find ways to nullify every measure taken by responsible leaders to stop the flow of illegals into the Free State.

For example, the Anne Arundel Chamber of Commerce has reacted with a thumbs down to County Executive John Leopold's executive order requiring all companies and individuals that contract with the county not to use illegal alien workers.

"It puts businesses in an improper and inappropriate light, when all of them work to comply with the federal mandate," Bob Burdon, the president of the county's Chamber of Commerce told the Examiner.

Under Leopold's order, the county purchasing department will ban any company hiring illegal aliens from bidding on county contracts.

As of 2000, the Pew Hispanic Center estimates Maryland's illegal population had swollen to 225,000 to 275,000 -- and growing.

The fact that federal immigration laws are being ignored by the state and most of its jurisdictions, makes it a sanctuary state and a powerful magnet for even more illegals!

Maryland also issues driver licenses to illegal aliens. I have witnessed this at the DMV where the individual applying for a license cannot speak English and a translator (again at state taxpayers expense) is used. I would like to know how these individuals, who cannot speak English, passes the learner and driver tests. How do they read English road signs? It just bewilders me.
