Victim, family happy that rapist gets his third strike

VICTORVILLE — After hearing the victim start to testify about how she was raped, her attacker decided to plead guilty to three strikes and was sentenced to 10 years, eight months.

Miguel Angel Ruano, 20, of Pasadena pleaded guilty to kidnapping, forcible rape and criminal threats.

Deputy District Attorney Kathleen DiDonato said that the victim started to testify and just as she started describing the rape, the court broke for lunch. When they came back, Ruano pleaded guilty.

The victim, whose name was not released to protect her privacy, was only 17 when the crime occurred.

“The victim was happy, the family was happy,â€

According to testimony during the case, Ruano is actually from Guatemala. Superior Court Judge Robert Law told Ruano that if he is found to be an illegal alien he could be subject to deportation after serving his sentence and that he must register as a sex offender.

This part doesnt make me happy at all...
