CORPUS CHRISTI - One person from Mexico is dead tonight after a fatal rollover on I-37 near Callicoatte Road.

Officers say early Saturday morning, outside city limits, a Constable tried to pull over a truck for a small traffic violation, but the driver refused to stop.

The truck took off, leading authorities on a chase into Corpus Christi, before being called off.

It wasn't until a short while later that they found out the truck had lost control when it took this sharp turn on Callicoatte, hit the railroad tracks and flipped over.

Officers say at least 16 illegal immigrants were piled into that one truck when it flipped over.

Police say 8 of the immigrants took off into the brush and disappeared.

Meanwhile, they caught 7 other immigrants before they could escape, mainly due to the fact that all 7 of them were suffering injuries.

One man, however, did not survive the crash. We're told he died on the scene.

Border Patrol was called out and spent several hours searching for the immigrants that got away, but they only found one of them, nearly 5 hours later.

He was taken into custody and all of them will be turned over to Federal agents once they have been checked out from the hospital.
