    VIGILANTES!
    By Rick Biesada

Upon returning from my tour with the Minuteman Project, I can honestly state, that I haven't been this proud to be an American, since the day that I had graduated from the United States Marine Corps. boot camp, back in 1962.

The Minuteman Project, brainchild of Jim Gilchrist, a former U.S. Marine, and Chris Simcox, of the Tombstone Tumbleweed newspaper, and of Civil Homeland Defense, fame, developed this project to bring national attention to the security threat of our porous borders, and the devastating impact of unwieldy, illegal immigration.

A problem which Time magazine chronicled in it's September 2004 edition, in an article by Donald Bartlett and James B. Steele, entitled; Who Left The Door Open?

Between the Mexican, Arizona border, over 4,000 illegal aliens will cross into our country everyday, while our elected officials lack the will to stop this invasion.

Our politicians deleteriously abrogate their responsibility, while violating their sworn oath to uphold and preserve the law.

Isn't it diabolical, how we as a nation, suffered "rule of law" burnout, these past few weeks, being inundated with cheap talk about virtue, over the government sanctioned "hit" on Terri Schiavo, an invalid, to cover for some pandering weasels who could have intervened and saved her life, but chose not to, in accordance with the "rule of law." This same "rule of law" that these same jackasses will not enforce when it comes to obeying our immigration laws, and stop this unconstitutional invasion of illegal aliens which will inevitably turn America into a third world atrocity.

When these pandering public servants betray United States Citizens, and will not perform their sworn duty, than it is time for the people to lead the leaders, As Jim, Chris, and 1000 Minutemen and women volunteers have attested, and intend to execute their oath of allegiance to protect this country from the enemy... both foreign and domestic.

I have a few observations I'd like to make, not looking through the scope of binocular glasses.

On my drive from the border toward Phoenix to catch my plane ride home, the local Tucson talk radio shows were all giving favorable reports about the Minuteman Project, in which the Border Patrol had credited Minutemen assistance with the apprehension of 118 illegal aliens.

When I got back to Chicago, the media in the midwest and out on the east coast, were giving an entirely different view of what I had just witnessed with my own eyes.

The news media was hysterical with reports about "armed vigilantes" out on the border, preventing illegal aliens access into our country. The spinmeisters of the media were arrogantly whining about these poor misunderstood invaders, who only wanted to come here to work on Slims ranch... but neglected to mention that most of these people are misguided, and are being exploited by criminal employers for cheap labor, chump change, as they steal American jobs and tax payer funded subsidies, depressing our wages and lowering our standard of living.

They don't want you to know that some of these "superman workers" really don't want to work at all.

They figure the U.S. is easy pickings with our dumbed-down, overly sensitive society, and is ripe to rip off. Some of these intruders are coming here with the sole purpose of doing harm to American's, and many of these illegal aliens are carriers of communicable disease. They prefer that you don't know this... but they do want you to know, that some Minutemen volunteers are armed.

How profound - American Citizens actually exercising their Constitutional Rights, in this nanny state, to bear arms for their necessary and essential right to defend themselves, in a right to carry state. What a novel concept!

Attack, attack, attack, and when they fail to get any facts that stick, these sniveling little rodents, revert to Marxism rule # 1: Racism.

Wow, they were calling us racists... even the Black Minutemen.

Now that I couldn't believe my own ears, I dug out an old copy of last Monday's Sierra Vista Herald, (4-4-05.) to see if my eyes were failing me too. An article with an interview with Hispanic reporter, Juan Carlos, of Los Angeles, Azteca Media, stated that, "the ride from Los Angeles was worth the trip, and essential, because we want to report the truth. The Minuteman are protecting the border and the lesson that I learned this week is; that I wouldn't want to cross the border here, he smiled, then added, the Minutemen are protecting the border, and I have not seen any evidence of racism.

Tell me about it Juan, because a large contingent of Minutemen volunteers are Mexican American's.

My six member patrol team consisted of a nice, pleasant couple from Colorado, Dave and Lynda Akers, plus two Mexican descendant brothers out of Huntington Beach California; Richard and Robert Thatcher, and Robert's 14 year old son, Joseph.

Robert told me that he has another son back home studying for a school project, otherwise he would have brought him along also. He went on to tell me that he brings his sons to all rallies because he wants them to know about their country, and to know who is trying to spoil their pursuit of happiness.

I've never met a finer group of concerned citizens as I did with this neighborhood watch project.

Down to every last man and woman, we all shared the same common philosophy that this problem was about the "rule of law," contrary to what our adversaries were chirping about in the news media.

Minutewoman Lupe Moreno, a county worker from a southwestern state, claimed that she spends most of her working time in court, testifying against welfare fraud perpetuated by greedy public servants on behalf of illegal aliens, who fraudulently enroll illegal invaders into the welfare system that is meant for American citizens.

I find it appalling, the way some media misrepresents the facts and tries to malign the good decent patriots of The Minuteman Project, who have stepped up and are performing the job that our Congress and President won't do.

I'm proud of these American's, such as the above mentioned civic minded citizens, plus Penny Magnotto, and her crew out of Riverside California, or Cindy Lou, the communications specialist out of Texas.

Arizona Gubernatorial Candidate, J.T. Ready, who set up an independent post next to a Minuteman observation post, and was admonished by Chris Simcox that he had to be a registered member to participate. J.T. politely acknowledged, and left with his team for a 40 mile drive back to To Tough to Die Tombstone, to register and become part of the project within the parameters of the established rules.

We had Bob Scheff and his team from California on post #1 in the woods. They observed a car pull up to the border fence about a quarter mile away, and drop off a sack of hamburgers and six back packs. Bob radioed in and one of the 12 volunteer Minuteman Airplanes appeared, spotting the six potential intruders hiding in the mesquite brush.

Later that day, the border patrol reported that they had apprehended five of the illegals after they had trespassed into our country... and Bob said with a grin, " those hamburgers where just the right thing to sooth a hungry Minuteman’s tummy."

There were too many fine people to mention, but one thing is for certain, I was never prouder to have met their acquaintance, and to have been part of such an important, and historic event.

Naturally,. the ACLU, the Marxist infested liberal media, and other administration, sycophant adversaries of this project, are eager to see it fail, so they can cover for a worthless, do nothing, governmental body, which in my humble opinion is dancing with *treason.

They will take the most benign event and try to turn it into an international incident, as they tried doing the other day when a Minuteman Volunteer, violated the established rules and shared a bowl of cereal with a suspected illegal alien, and posed with him for a picture. After the Border Patrol had taken the trespasser into custody, some subversionary tried to get the illegal alien to claim that he had been detained to cause an incident.

Right now I'd like to state, that there is no law on the books that would prevent a citizen of the United States of making a citizens arrest of a person he sees committing a crime.

Unfortunately, this Minuteman was an idiot, and he was promptly dismissed from the project for violating established rules and procedures.

He was a maverick, coming down with the intention of gaining personal publicity, unlike the other volunteers who signed waivers of liability, submitted to back-round checks, and shared in the common philosophy of making this project work successfully, to become a proto type model for other border states to implement in the near future.

Every Minuteman knows this principal, so we had all committed to make a special effort to abide by the rules and make this project work in spite of all of the opposition that would like to see it fail.

One out of 1000 isn't a bad percentage though, nothing in life is perfect. Look at our president, a lot of citizens had put their trust in George Bush, and voted him into a second term as president, only to find that he is in breach of his oath of office, and he too can't seem to follow the established rules of the United States Constitution, the supreme law of the land; particularly; Article 4 Section 4 : which guarantees in part, to each State in the Union, Protection from Invasion.

I guess there's one bad apple in every barrel, but our bad apple has rolled out of Too Tough, heading in another direction, saving him the embarrassment of public scorn, or a similar event, such as impeachment.

Speaking of guns and being nasty, I suppose that I could have called a news conference to report the crew of the Spanish news Media team that "detained" me.

Yes Sir! They detained me, and questioned me about what I was doing standing on American soil?

That's when I noticed the bulge under the photographers T-shirt, which indicated that he was either packing a weapon... or just happy to see me. In either event, it just goes to show the hypocrisy of the media, who spins, distorts, misrepresents, lies, and omits the news.

I firmly believe that we proved our point, and the Minuteman Project is an overwhelming success. I want to thank every participant for showing the world that their are still some proud American's hanging around to exercise their constitutional duty, and to show leadership doing the job that our disdainful public servants, fail to do.

Off record, several Border Patrol Agents told jim Gilchrist that they appreciate what the Minutemen were doing to bring attention to the problems with our porous border, and that the 23 mile section of the San Pedro Valley that the Volunteers are observing, has virtually dried up. Out of the approximately 1,000 per day apprehensions made by the Border Patrol, they are down to less than 20 per day since the project started last week.

The good news is; now that we have gained national attention, and shown that we are serious, we will soon implement two other phases of this project.

    1. Go after the criminal employers who are violating the law and exploiting cheap labor employees.

    2. Go after the treacherous public servants who do not uphold their oath of office and violate the public trust. We are going to target them and uproot them from public office, because they are not fit to hold public office.

Don't be surprised to see a huge cloud of dust, heading toward the Mexican border on election day.

    A job well done Minutemen/women.
    Semper Fidelis.

Treason - Public officials who do not comply with the Constitution; their orders are void.

Re: Sawyer, 124 U.S.200 (188 he/she is without jurisdiction, and he/she has engaged in an act of treason.

Treason - When ever a judge acts where he/she have no jurisdiction to act, the judge is engaged in an act or acts of treason.

    Re: Webster Dictionary Reference:

Treason - 1. the betrayal of a trust: Treachery.
Treason - 2. the offenses of attempting by overt acts to overthrow the government of the state to which one owes allegiance or to bring about it's defeat in war. Act of handing over.

United States Code: Title 8 Sections 1324 - 25 –26: defines several distinct offenses related to aliens. Prohibits alien smuggling, domestic transportation of unauthorized aliens, concealing or harboring, encouraging or inducing unauthorized aliens to enter the United States, and engaging in a conspiracy or aiding and abetting any of the preceding acts.

IIRIRA: The Illegal immigration Reform and Immigration Responsibility Act of 1996; adds new offenses for employers who hire unauthorized aliens.

Oh yes - the Merriam-Webster Dictionary references 'vigilantes' as derived from the Spanish and is described as watchman, guard, from vigilante vigilant, from Latin 'vigilans': a member of a volunteer committee organized to suppress and punish crime summarily (as when the processes of law appear inadequate). Sticks and stones Mr. Bush, sticks and stones....

Lets start with the guy I voted for twice: George W. Bush.

    Great article.

Dennis Miller had a good show tonight (MSNBC) He interviewed Chris Simcox. Simcox was articulate and presented the MMP well. Miller said of the president, “he’s out to lunch on this one! He was very angry he said when Bush called the MinuteMen “vigilantes.

Thank you for serving this country.

I just want to congradulate yourself upon serving this country. It seems you had quite an interesting time while you were at the border. While I was not able to make it down to the border for the vigil, I did play a part by contributing to the project.

Living near the border by El Paso, it is quite disgusting to see the local media portray the Minutemen as "racists". In addition, the local college paper posted something regarding the "racism" of locals who had the audacity to exercize their first amendment rights to post minutemen posters across campus. Seems strange, considering that the Marxists achedemics have no problem hiring racist Marxist Mexican nationalists who preach how Aztlan should be recaptured and reclaimed to Mexico.

I'm just glad a grassroots movement dedicated to stopping illegal immigration is here, hopefully to stay. Let's hope in 2006 the Republican party can attract some true pro american constitutionalist Conservatives instead of the phonies we have now.
