illegal alien monthly wages $77,500: Advocates Rally To Help Bakery Workers Facing

Advocates Rally To Help Bakery Workers Facing ICE Threat

New York's Tom Cat Bakery informed their employees that they have 10 days to provide documentation to prove they can legally work in the U.S.

A workers rights organization and an employee from a bakery in Queens, New York, launched a fundraising campaign on Friday to provide relief for workers allegedly targeted by Immigration and Customs Enforcement. On March 15, Tom Cat Bakery informed their employees in a letter that they have 10 days to provide documentation to prove they can work legally, due to an audit from the Department of Homeland Security.

"I've been working for @TomCatBakery for 10 years.
We were called to the office & told we'd be fired in a few
days if we didn't show papers"

Tom Cat employee Osias Davila, and Brandworkers, a non-profit organization that supports workers in the food industry, put the fundraising campaign together after two days of fighting back with a march and a press conference. They will continue to fight, the fundraising organizers said on the GoFundMe page. However, they are seeking to raise a total of $77,500, in order to cover one month’s salary for the 31 workers who could be fired “should termination come to bear.” The $2,500 for each worker “will offer them the small comfort of having one month to seek out new employment,” they write in the campaign page.

The letters sent to employees stated that if they did not provide proper documentation within 10 days, “you are considered by the Homeland Security Investigations to be unauthorized to work in the United States,” according to the local reports. Tom Cat Bakery has been operating since 1987 and spans a full block in Queens. It delivers over 400 types of bread and sweets to a 150-mile radius every day.

The workers, some of whom have been employed at Tom Cat Bakery for over a decade, picketed in front of the bakery on Wednesday. “After hearing this news, we’ve been devastated because we’ve given so many years of our lives to the company, and we have been overwhelmed not knowing what to do,” one of the employees said. “We’re going to continue to fight until we reach our objective.” Working Families Party, a workers rights group, filmed the protest.

“We reject the racist policies of Donald Trump’s ICE, which have targetted decent, hardworking New Yorkers, who have done nothing but contribute to this community, and contribute to this economy,” New York City Councilman Mark Levine said at the protest. “There is no justification for the targeting of these workers. The targeting of these workers by ICE runs contrary to our values as New Yorkers, contrary to our values as Americans, and contrary to our interests, and we will fight this with everything we have.”

Levine demanded that Tom Cat Bakery support their employees during these uncertain times, and offer them sponsorship so that they can stay in the country “without this horrible, horrible threat standing over their head.”

That is $77,500 a month that our jobless American citizens should have - one bakery - no wonder our citziens are living in the streets and adult children in their parents basements. Illegals are employed in every town all across the country. And ryan likes it that way "open borders, come & go, acquire jobs" - so he says.

    I know, isn't that sick!

It should not be so easy for illegals to get jobs.

Employers need to be criminally charged for harboring and hit with HUGE, HUGE penalty fines.

Interesting how the map shows the most prevalent losses in the areas with known early infestation of drug cartels and those from south of the border - illegals.

How The Government Is Literally Killing White Middle Class Americans

When Donald Trump upset Hillary Clinton to become the 45th President of the United States, liberals -including those denizens of coastal America, the media, academia, and the political class – were aghast at the outcome of the election.

Although the media told them it could not happen, Trump’s victory was not as shocking to citizens of fly-over country, the Rust Belt, and other working class communities who handed him the presidency.
“Bumpkins! Uneducated racists! Misogynists!”, the self-ordained leftist geniuses labeled Trump supporters.
How can Americans view the same country though such different paradigms? Each group looks at the other as alien, with inexplicably delusional viewpoints. It seems that for decades, segments of society that existed inside a bubble – continuing to prosper and live among the prosperous – ignored or remained ignorant of the desperate plight of their fellow citizens.
Much of the answer lies in governmental policies put in place going back to the 1990’s. The economic consequences of NAFTA, increasing regulations, out-sourcing, etc. left certain segments of society – whites without bachelor degrees – with few options for increasing prosperity. For the first time in our history, a huge segment of American society was not going to exceed the lifestyle that their parents were able to produce.
From Kit Carson, CO to Stuttgart, AK to Youngstown, OH, the desolation of once vibrant communities is self-evident to anyone that passes through. And the result has been deadly, according to new research.
    According to Bloomberg:
Mortality and morbidity, which measure chances of death or illness within an age group, began climbing in the late 1990s for less-educated whites between 45 and 54. That came as progress against heart disease and cancer slowed and drug overdoses, suicide and alcoholism — so-called “deaths of despair” — became pervasive.
Distress born of globalization and technological change probably drove the deadly outcome, new research by Princeton University’s Anne Case and Nobel Prize winner Angus Deaton shows. Their findings point to a cycle of despair that’s deepening: Middle-aged whites today are more likely to report pain and mental-health problems than their predecessors and are experiencing symptoms of alcoholism at a younger age.

    According to the authors:
“Much of the relationship between mortality and Trump’s performance is explained by economic factors; counties with higher economic distress and larger working-class presence also have higher mortality rates and came out strongly for Trump,” Monnat wrote. “In many of the counties where Trump did the best, economic precarity has been building and social and family networks have been breaking down for several decades.”
The desolation and despair that has existed for decades in a vast swath of America has become a death spiral for many. Perhaps that is why Trump – who spoke to those very people in a way that no other candidate has been able – resonated so much.
The white middle class is literally dying for a change in government that will finally benefit them, instead of every other interest group that has fed the swamp monsters in DC.
