Virtual fence delay draws inquiry from NH senator

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - A U.S. senator wants an explanation from a top Homeland Security official about an indefinite construction delay on "virtual fence" projects along the Arizona-Mexico border.

Sen. Judd Gregg, RN.H., a member of the Senate Homeland Security Appropriations subcommittee, is asking U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Ralph Basham for an update on efforts to implement the program.

Gregg says the American people expect the federal government to gain control of the nation's borders.

Federal officials said Tuesday the projects were on hold because the Interior Department hasn't signed off on use of its lands.

Gregg says serious concerns have been raised about the program's future and he wants more information about deployment timetables.

A call to a CBP spokesman was not returned immediately.

Only ONE senator questions the incompetence of this fiasco?

I expect the same type of answers we got about the Border Patrol killer who was released from Mexican prison because a detainer had not been filed by the US.

Rememeber when they were going to build 800 miles of double-layered fence, 300 miles of Vehicle Barriers, and a 105 towers. It has been mostly complete BS between then, and now. When all is said, and done, more gets said, then ever gets done.
