Feds, deputies conduct immigration sweep

PANAMA CITY BEACH -- Deputies with the Bay County Sheriff’s Office coordinated with officials from Immigration and Customs Enforcement and several other federal law enforcement agencies Thursday in a sweep that netted more than a dozen arrests in the Panama City Beach area, according to a BCSO release.

Three people were busted for outstanding warrants, including Michelle Egan, 32, of Panama City Beach, on a grand theft charge. Also arrested and charged with failure to obtain Florida workers compensation insurance coverage was Ahustin Gutierrez, 45, of Atlanta. Gutierrez allegedly recruited undocumented aliens from Georgia to work in Bay County.

Ten other undocumented aliens were detained for eventual deportation.
